Principal Software Engineer
Overview
In this Principal Software Engineer role within Metadata Engineering, you’ll shape the architectural direction for managing content metadata, rights, and availabilities across Disney+/Hulu and beyond. You’ll lead design and implementation of scalable services, driving performance and cost optimization for the content catalog. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine data-driven platforms that enhance viewer experiences. This is a chance to influence streaming tech at scale and help redefine how metadata powers storytelling.

Key requirements10+ years of software development experienceBachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalentProficiency in Java and/or PythonExperience implementing production system improvements while adding new featuresExperience with metadata enrichment techniques leveraging ML/AI models6+ years in core CS principles (OOP, data structures, algorithms)6+ years of experience with relational (SQL) and non-relational databases (DynamoDB, Elasticache) and messaging systems (Kinesis, Kafka, SQS, SNS)Proven track record in data modeling and aggregating data from multiple sources for user experienceExperience with high-performance services or large-scale stream computingleadership and influence across teamsstrong problem-solving mindsetcollaboration with cross-functional partnersSpringboot/JavaDjango/PythonAWS services (Kinesis, DynamoDB, S3, SNS, SQS)
