Brief DescriptionThe Instrumentation Controls and Electrical (IC&E) Technician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all instruments, control systems and electrical equipment in the power plant and the associated facilities. The IC&E Technician performs work of high skill in the inspection repair, testing, adjustment, calibration, installation and removal of all electronic and electrical power plant equipment and systems.Santa Rosa is a nominal 245 MW, natural gas fueled facility consisting of one GE 7FA.03 gas turbine in combined cycle with a GE steam turbine located in Pace, Fl.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesDiagnoses and repairs the cause of instrument and control system malfunctions including transmitters, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), plant or distributive control systems, instrument loops, flow meters, pressure probes, temperature probes, level probes, repair electrical systems control malfunctions of equipment such as transformers, relays, switches, control, generator monitoring and control systems, medium and high voltage distribution systems and monitoring devices.Installs new electrical equipment as required.Properly uses electrical test equipment and other similar tools.Performs (with assistance as needed) the maintenance of equipment by cleaning, adjusting, tightening, performing preventative or corrective maintenance and identifying equipment in need of corrective maintenance. Writes, submits and clears corrective work orders for approval.Initiates purchase orders, coordinates with and directs outside contractors as required to ensure completion of position responsibilities.Performs 480V and high voltage switchyard basis electrical systems maintenance and or supervise outside contractors in the performance of such work including the development of work scope and bid analysis.Perform preventive maintenance duties on all major equipment and systems as well as emergency backup systems.Maintain complete equipment files, logs, and drawings for all designated equipment.Assist in maintaining and controlling spare parts inventory to maintain plant reliability. Assist in physical inventories.Participate in the administrative maintenance of the plant operating manuals, technical references, prints and diagrams and preventive/predictive maintenance records.Inspect, repair, install and remove all types of motors, generators, transformers, switches, control equipment, wiring, electrical signal and communication systems, and storage batteries.Conduct trouble shooting and analysis on DCS, PLC and turbine control equipment.Use the computerized plant maintenance management system (Maximo) to enter and plan work orders, purchase requisitions, and research and control inventory levels.Plan, schedule, and manage the execution of outage projects as assigned.Direct contractors as needed for the repair of plant equipment within the IC&E scope of responsibility.Fully support and participate in Plant Safety and Regulatory Compliance ProgramsComplete other tasks as assigned by the O&M or the Plant Manager.RequirementsAbility to understand procedures and instructions specific to the area of assignment as would be acquired in four years of high school. Graduation from an accredited Instrument Technician Program and two years’ work experience as a technician in a combined cycle power plant desirable. Four + years work experience as a technician with increasing responsibility in a related industry may be substituted for the above requirement.Experience with DCS, GE Mark VI (MKVI) turbine controls, EX2100e, Siemens T3000 & Allen Bradley PLCs.Experience with low, medium and high voltage switchgear and transformers is preferred.Must have an understanding of 40CFR Part 75 and Part 60 environmental regulationsPreferred CEMS maintenance/Trouble shooting experience.DCS to I/O to field device troubleshooting experience is required.Experience in working with voltages up to 4160 volts is highly desirable.Experience with Maximo corrective maintenance management system.Reads, understands and complies with all regulatory and facility safety proceduresExperience as NERC SME is highly desirable.Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to work well with others and be self-directed, as well as apply creative solutions to unique I&E problems is desirable. Must be able to work from blueprints. Must be skilled in the use of hand and power-driven tools. Must have strong personal computer skills.Physical RequirementsExposure to varied outdoor environments, including extreme weather conditions, high noise levels, hazardous areas, and diverse work surfaces.Frequent use of personal protective equipment (PPE), such as hard hats, safety glasses, ear protection, hot gloves, and high-voltage protective gear.Working near high-voltage equipment and operating heavy machinery, with proper training and safety protocols.Entry into confined spaces and potentially hazardous environments, often accompanied by exposure to loud machinery and equipment.Physical activities including walking, standing for extended periods, crawling, stooping, sitting, climbing vertical and inclined ladders/stairs, operating large valves, and performing tasks requiring up to 50 lbs. of pulling, turning, lifting, or carrying.Exposure to extreme heat and cold.Participation in a post-offer physical examination and drug screening, as well as ongoing random drug testing.Compliance with strict smoking restrictions in and around the facility.SummaryApplicants must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record, as this position requires occasional travel for company business.
