DSHS SCC Licensed Practical Nurse 4Join our team at the Special Commitment Center (SCC), on McNeil Island, as a Licensed Practical Nurse 4 (LPN4) on the night shift team to play a key leadership role in providing compassionate, high-quality mental health care. In this role, the LPN4 provides excellent nursing care to residents who are detained and/or civilly committed and assists them in addressing their medical care, mental health care and sexual offending histories under the supervision of the Charge Nurse and Nursing Supervisor. This role also assists with medical clinic and pharmacy operations to ensure safe, consistent, and high-quality healthcare services for residents.Located on McNeil Island, where you will take a ferry to arrive at SCC, our facility is surrounded by nature, wildlife, old history and amazing views of Mount Rainier and the beautiful Puget sound.We take pride in teamwork and positive energy channel into our day-to-day activities. Ferry transportation is provided to McNeil Island employeesEvening and Night shifts include a shift differential in addition to the standard compensation rateOpportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salaryWork Schedule is as follows: 10pm-8am Wednesday through Saturday with Sunday/Monday/Tuesday as regular days offSome of what you'll do:Transcribe and verify ordersOrder medications refills and renewalsReview and reconcile MARs nightly; communicate needed renewals or concerns to providers, pharmacy and nursing leadershipInform Providers and Charge nurse of developments or changes in residents' health statusEducate residents on health conditions, medication management, and treatment plansMaintain optimal pharmacy operationsMaintain meticulous medication inventory, coordinate with pharmacy for new orders, deliveries, and updatesPrepare and maintain medication cartsProvide residents with ordered medications, using 10 rights of medication administrationProvide patient care to our aging facility populationAssess residents and record vital signs, changes in resident health status and notify Charge RN or provider as neededProvide treatment and nursing care for people who have mental illnesses, developmental disabilities, other neurological, physiological, or behavioral health disordersAssist in developing and managing Individual rehabilitation plans for residents to help improve and maintain healthImplement care plans, administer medications, and assist the physician and other medical staff with treatments and examsRespond to medical calls and emergenciesOther duties as assigned by providers, RN3, and/or RN4Must be Up to date on their nursing skill and abilities such as IV starts, IV fluids administration, laboratory processes and phlebotomyDesired Skills/Preferred Knowledge:Demonstrated ability to apply practical nursing principles and best practicesProficiency in performing and interpreting basic physical assessments and treatment techniquesStrong interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on compassionate, person-centered careWhat we're looking for:* Possession of a current Washington State license to practice as an LPNAND* One year of experience as a LPNTo ApplySubmit an application and include resumeQuestions?
