Quality Technician

Quality Technician The Quality Technician is responsible for ensuring product quality by conducting line clearance, routine analysis of raw materials, in-process, and finished products using a variety of testing devices and procedures. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining product quality and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The Quality Technician will document all findings for quality compliance and support traceability, customer, and regulatory audits. Adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) is essential, and non-compliance issues must be reported promptly to prevent product or raw material spoilage.ResponsibilitiesConduct line inspections prior to start-up, verifying compliance with the Line Clearance Approval sheet.Perform swab and allergen tests, document, and communicate results to release the production line.Conduct GMP compliance and in-line process inspections, documenting results in SafetyChain.Perform metal detector tests every two hours for all running lines and record results in the SafetyChain Metal Detector Check form.Compare analysis results to specifications and inform the QC Supervisor of any non-compliance.Ensure compliance with specifications, including labeling, packaging, code dating, and customer-specific requirements.Perform analytical tests using standard methods specific to raw materials or finished products.Collect retention samples for future reference during traceability or customer complaints.Conduct GMP compliance inspections, ensuring mix deck raw materials are not expired.Check refrigerated raw materials to ensure they are not kept unrefrigerated beyond safe limits.Verify compliance with SOPs and prepare incident reports promptly.Inspect products retained for shelf life to validate product shelf life and investigate customer claims.Collect samples for micro and environmental testing as per established sampling schemes.Inspect incoming raw materials per QC protocol, reporting non-compliance to complete SCAR.Conduct QCP and CCP tests, document results in SafetyChain, and confirm compliance with Food Safety and QM systems.Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the lab.Essential SkillsExperience in inspection and quality control within food manufacturing.Knowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices).Proficiency in Microsoft Office.Strong communication and organizational skills.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in food manufacturing quality control.An Associate degree (AS degree) in a relevant field.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago Heights, IL.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
