Equipment Operator Heavy

Job Description This position is located at Kings Bay, GA Job Summary The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining construction equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, loaders, graders, and backhoes. This role ensures safe, efficient, and precise execution of construction and site preparation tasks. Key Responsibilities * Operate heavy machinery to perform construction, excavation, grading, and material handling tasks * Inspect equipment before and after use to ensure proper functioning and safety compliance * Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment * Follow site plans, blueprints, and instructions from supervisors * Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies * Coordinate with other crew members to complete projects efficiently * Monitor work areas for potential hazards and maintain a clean job site * Accurately complete daily logs and equipment reports Required Qualifications * High school diploma or equivalent * Proven experience operating heavy equipment (e.g., excavators, bulldozers, loaders) * Valid driver's license * Knowledge of construction procedures, safety standards, and equipment maintenance * Ability to read and interpret blueprints and grade stakes * Strong hand-eye coordination and mechanical aptitude Preferred Qualifications * Certification in heavy equipment operation (e.g., NCCER or equivalent) * OSHA safety certification * Experience with GPS or computerized equipment systems * Digging around live utilities (storm, water, sewer) Skills & Competencies * Strong attention to detail and safety awareness * Ability to work in a team environment * Good communication skills * Physical stamina and ability to work in various weather conditions * Problem-solving and decision-making skills Working Conditions * Outdoor work in varying weather conditions * Exposure to noise, dust, and heavy machinery * May require long hours, weekends, or overtime depending on project deadlines Company Description SG Development & Consulting Inc. was established in 2020 by Scott Silvia and Travis Garland, two accomplished entrepreneurs and 24-year veterans of the United States Navy.
