Remembrance, Resolution, Reconciliation, Restoration, Renewal Job Summary:The Supervising Counselor is responsible for supervising the delivery of face-to-face rehabilitative programming services provided in the Integrated Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program (ISUDTP). What You Will DoEssential Duties:Supervise approximately six (6) AOD Counseling/Peer Navigator staffEvaluate staff performance and provide applicable coaching and trainingTrack and monitor Contractor staff performance, including implementing corrective measures as neededAssess and regularly monitor counseling staff progress toward achieving and maintaining a valid AOD certificationSupervise the orientation and intake processes of all participants newly assigned to programmingApprove and monitor SUD relapse prevention/CBI action plan developmentTrack all participants (names, counselor assignments, readiness to change, progress on plans, program stage, etc.)Provide training, oversight, and monitoring of all ARMS documentation to ensure compliance with the agreementProvide training to AOD Counseling staff, including OMCP MentorsCoordinate and supervise OMCP Mentors assigned to the programProvide support and resources to ensure OMCP Mentors complete the work‑experience portion of certification, including practice of all twelve Core FunctionsProvide verification of internship hours for AOD Counseling staff and OMCP MentorsVerify and record each OMCP Mentor's monthly internship hours by the 5th of each month using the CDCR OMCP Verification of Internship Hours form in ARMSWork collaboratively with CDCR/CCHCS headquarters, local institutions, and CDCR‑contracted staffOther duties as assigned.What You Will BringEducation and Experience:Required: Certified as an AOD Counselor with an organization approved by DHCS and Two (2) years of experience as a certified AOD counselorPreferred: NONECertifications or Licenses:Required:Current AOD Certification with organization recognized by the DHCS OR a Licensed professional as required by contract.Preferred: NONE Skills/Abilities:Understanding of causes, symptoms, and effects of substance abuse; appreciation for the behavioral, psychological, physical and social effects of drug abuse.Excellent organization, leadership and time management skill.Strong attention to detail and the ability to multi task.Knowledge of contractual requirements of ISUDTP is essential.Excellent interpersonal, written and communication skills.Operational knowledge of MS Office Suite and ARMS.Ability to maintain sensitivity and objectivity under pressures generated by association with substance abuse treatment participants. Demonstrate ethical behavior in order to maintain professional standards and safeguard the participants.Protect and maintain program participants' health, safety, welfare, and confidentiality of records and participant information. ADA Information: Physical Requirements:Occasionally adjusts or moves objects up to 50lbs. in all directions.Constantly remains in a stationary position often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.Repeats motions that may include the wrists, hands and / or fingers.Constantly moves from one work yard to another daily.Frequently walks on hard or uneven surfaces.Required to communicate verbally and in written form.Uses all types of vision, such as close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception, to complete daily tasks.Assesses the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.Occasionally required to climb, bend, stretch, reach or stoop.Required to wear comfortable and location appropriate clothing and shoes. Mental Demands:Ability to change directions as a priorities shift.Ability to thrive in environment that require the ability to adapt to changing circumstances,Ability to cope with occasionally difficult or temperamental students and faculty.Ability to cope with mental and emotional stress related to the position. Work Conditions:Generally, in an indoor setting.Occasionally works in outdoor elements such as precipitation, snow and wind.Work is in an incarcerated setting. Environmental Conditions:The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but can be loud.The temperature in the work environment is generally moderate however can range from hot to cold seasonally.Seldom may be exposed to non-lethal chemical agents as administered in necessary use of force security instances.
