Instructor, CDL TrainingDepartment: Transportation Innovation CenterLocation: Transportation CenterReports To: Director, TICRecruitment Type: External/InternalRequisition ID: req5571Employment Type: Part-Time Support StaffUnion Position: Non-UnionWork Schedule: Part-Time Hourly as scheduledJob Description:SUMMARYThe Instructor, TruckDriving Academy role develops and facilitates training for students of theCollege's Truck Driving Academy, including leadership and control of classroomactivities.RESPONSIBILITIESTeaches students skills and knowledge necessary to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A driver's licenseMonitors attendance and maintains student recordsAssists in program compliance with State requirementsAssists in participant recruitment and enrollment activitiesPerforms other related duties as assignedREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSHigh School diploma or GEDThree years of verifiable CDL Class "A" driving experience in all weather conditionsMust have CDL Class "A" license with all endorsements except Hazardous Materials, Passenger and School BusClean driving record with no more than two (2) points and/or two (2) moving violations in the previous three yearsNo record of Operating Vehicle While Intoxicated (OVI), Driving Under the Influence (DUI) or Reckless Operation convictions in the past ten (10) yearsMust meet the College insurability requirementsAbility to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical and drug screening examinationNo felony convictions; must pass Ohio Department of Public Safety background checkGood verbal, written and interpersonal communication and organizational skillsMust be able to function as a self-motivated team player capable of working with minimal supervisionAbility to stand and walk a large portion of the work dayDemonstrated ability to interact with individuals from diverse and multi-ethnic background and sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse populationPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSComputer proficiencyOhio Department of Public Safety CDL Instructor's licenseSmith System driver safety trainingCompletion of the National Safety Council Defensive Driver's Training for Commercial DriversWORKING CONDITIONSThe work schedule is determined based on businessneed.
