Summer Camp - Archery Specialist

Position PurposeTo further the mission of the camp through the development and delivery of an archery program and activities that are safe, fun, and appropriate to the campers' ages and abilities. Assist in the management of the physical operation of the archery and related equipment.QualificationsCurrent certification in archery instruction or documented training and experienceDocumented experience in instructing children the art of archeryKnowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesExperience in teaching archery to childrenStrong desire to work with children outdoors in varied conditionsResponsibilitiesDevelop and deliver an archery program that is appropriate for the age and ability of the campersWrite lesson plans that meet camp outcomes and the abilities of the campersEnsure that camp staff and capers know and follow safety and educational proceduresTrain other staff in their responsibilities at the archery rangeMaintain the archery equipment including bows, arrows, strings, and targets Conduct daily check of the area and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and good repairParticipate enthusiastically in all camp activities, planning, and leading those as assignedParticipate as a member of the camp staff team to deliver and supervise special events, camp activities, and camp functionsWork Environment & Physical DemandsPhysical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campersSome physical requirements of this position could be endurance including standing, running, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate equipment and demonstrate archery activities. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/program. Willingness to work in a camp setting and work irregular hours delivering program in the facility available.
