Family and Faith Formation Minister Salary Range $70,000.00 - $82,000.00 Salary/year Position Type Full Time Description Family & Faith Formation Minister Full Time FTE Reports to: Director of Parish Ministry Location: Parish Family 16 - Sacred Heart of Jesus, Our Lady of Fatima, St. Anne Primary Work Location: St. Anne Position Purpose Under the direction of the Director of Parish Ministry (DPM), implements and oversees a comprehensive Faith Formation program for all ages across Parish Family 16, with a goal of forming lifelong disciples rooted in a relationship with Christ and His Church, with a special focus on families and children. This position is both missionary and relational, responsible for forming programs and small groups based on the teachings of the Catholic Church, and which foster people's encounter with Jesus Christ, His Church, and each other. The Ideal Candidate A prayer-centered person who is committed to the mission of Jesus Christ and His Church to a world that is seeking Him. This person can build strong relationships, take initiative, is able to see projects through to completion, and collaborate effectively with clergy, staff, and key volunteers. Ability to confidently lead and participate in prayer with individuals and groups is essential. This role floats between the ministry of evangelization and the ministry of administration, and the ideal candidate will feel comfortable both organizing people, projects, and administrative systems. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Collaborates with Pastor, Director of Parish Ministry (DPM), and the parish family staff to implement the parish family's mission and vision. Sacramental Preparation Develops, executes, and evaluates sacramental preparation programs for Infant and Child Baptism; 1st Reconciliation and 1st Communion; Child and Teen Confirmation; and children's OCIA. Ensures programs meet the requirements for the Archdiocese of Seattle, while also working towards evangelization of participants Recruits, trains, and disciples volunteers to assist in each of these processes Conducts Parent Information Sessions and Parent Catechesis sessions, as needed. Plans and coordinates liturgies associated with sacramental preparation, collaborating with the Director of Liturgy. Oversees the sacramental preparation registration process, including being present at registration events throughout the year, both at the parishes and at the schools. Family and Children's Formation Under the direction of the DPM, develops, implements, and evaluates catechetical and formation programs for families and children. This may include evening and weekend programs. Plans and runs monthly Family Nights. Builds and maintains pastoral relationships with children and their parents, including school families. Develops and runs summer faith formation opportunities for families. Youth Ministry Develops, trains, and leads a youth ministry volunteer team School Engagement Collaborates with parish schools to engage students and parents in parish life Works with DPM to identify opportunities for parent/adult evangelization and catechesis Serves as a resource for schools in religious education Other Duties Actively engages in personal prayer Contributes to regular calendaring sessions and all-staff meetings. Communicates at Masses regarding religious education and sacramental preparation, as needed. Develops communication and promotional materials related to formation and sacramental preparation, in collaboration with the Director of Communications, as needed. Participates in an annual Parish Family 16 Staff retreat, and other staff formation and growth opportunities. Develop and maintain an accurate budget in collaboration with the Director of Finance. Maintains the knowledge and skills required for this Catholic ministry through ongoing professional development, including reading appropriate materials and participation at workshops and conventions. Participates in local, regional, and national professional organizations, as approved and as appropriate. Other duties as discerned with the DPM. Qualifications Must be a practicing, confirmed Catholic in good standing, registered and active at a parish, and must have a love for the Church and Her teachings. Bachelor's degree in Catholic theology, pastoral studies, youth ministry, or equivalent from a valid Catholic institution, or equivalent experience. 2+ years of ministry experience working in a Church setting. Ability to inspire and engage with children and their families. Excellent interpersonal skills, especially in working with people in challenging situations. Ability to work both independently and with a team. Excellent time management skills, with the ability to work on several projects simultaneously with accuracy. Must pass a background check and complete Safe Environment training and certification. High proficiency in technology, including Microsoft Office/Outlook/Teams, social media use. Ability to work at multiple locations, as needed. Spanish language proficiency a plus. Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
