Lead Translational Research Scientist - Reproductive Medicine

Role OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled, hands-on translational scientist to lead and expand a clinically integrated reproductive biology research program within a high-volume IVF practice and ACGME-accredited fellowship program. This role operates at the interface of clinical medicine, molecular biology, and academic scholarship, leveraging direct access to human reproductive tissues and biofluids to drive innovation, improve patient outcomes, and produce high-impact publications. An interest and passion in reproductive biologic sciences, embryology, gynecologic pathology and high complexity labs (IVF) is required. This is not a traditional lab role. It is designed for someone who values autonomy, thrives in clinically integrated environments, and wants to build something meaningful with real translational impact.Development of diagnostic/therapeutic tools for clinical use is encouraged and expected. This role requires both strategic thinking and meticulous execution—developing systems that enable long-term, scalable translational research. This position is intended to evolve into leading a small translational research team.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and execute ELISA, qPCR, and sequencing-based assaysProcess and analyze human tissue and biofluid samples (e.g., serum, follicular fluid, endometrial tissue, spent media)Lead and expand a clinically integrated research program, building on existing infrastructureManage and ensure ongoing compliance of existing IRB-approved protocolsOversee and continuously improve an established IRB-compliant biorepository, including sample collection, labeling, tracking, and long-term specimen managementRefine and scale clinical sample collection workflows embedded within IVF operationsPerform statistical analysis and generate publication-quality figures (strong biostatistics proficiency required)Lead manuscript preparation with a focus on high-impact publications over volumeParticipate in and lead grant writing efforts to support program growthCollaborate directly with clinicians to translate clinical questions into research studiesMentor REI fellows and serve as a core research advisor within the fellowship programDeliver lectures focused on study design, power analysis, biostatistics, and manuscript developmentThe ability to perform meta-analysis on clinically relevant topicsProvide ongoing support and guidance to fellows on active research projects and thesis completionExecute hands-on benchwork while advancing the program; transition toward a leadership role as additional research staff are onboardedRequirements5+ years of hands-on wet lab experience (ELISA, PCR, sequencing)Proven experience working with human clinical samplesDemonstrated publication authorship (first or contributing author)Strong proficiency in biostatistics (R, Python, or equivalent)Experience with IRB protocols, regulatory compliance, and biobanking strongly preferredExperience with grant writing or contributing to funded proposals preferredExperience designing or optimizing workflows and managing lab operations strongly preferredPrior experience mentoring trainees or participating in academic teaching preferredWhat Makes This Role UniqueDirect integration with a high-volume IVF clinical practice and ACGME-accredited fellowship programAccess to unique human reproductive samples, including surgical specimens and disease-specific tissueOpportunity to build and scale a clinically integrated research platform with strong leadership supportEnvironment that encourages original thinking and investigator-initiated researchClear pathway to lead and grow a translational research teamFocus on translational impact—improving patient care and developing clinically applicable diagnosticsEmphasis on high-impact publications rather than volume-driven outputHigh level of autonomy with meaningful leadership and academic influenceJ-18808-Ljbffr
