Data Engineer
Data Engineer The CompanyWe’re partnering with a next-generation AI company building the intelligence layer for complex, real-world operations. This is a true 0→1 company with strong early momentum and a clear point of view on how AI should be applied outside of software. The RoleAs a Data Engineer, you’ll be responsible for building the underlying data infrastructure that powers an AI-native platform. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role focused on turning fragmented, real-world data into structured, usable context for intelligent systems. You won’t just be moving data from point A to point B — you’ll be designing the systems that allow advanced models and automated workflows to interpret, reason over, and act on complex datasets. You’ll work closely with a small, fast-moving team to build foundational systems from scratch, where performance and reliability are expected from day one. What You’ll DoBuild and maintain a semantic data layer that transforms raw schemas into meaningful, high-context representations for downstream systemsIntegrate a wide range of internal and external tools (e.g., ERPs, operational platforms, legacy systems) into a unified data environmentDefine and manage data schemas and contracts to ensure consistency and reliability across systems consuming the dataEstablish strong data lineage and metadata standards so every dataset is traceable and interpretableDesign and implement ingestion and transformation pipelines across structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data sourcesDevelop monitoring, observability, and data quality frameworks to ensure systems operate on accurate and timely informationPartner with product and engineering teams to translate ambiguous, real-world problems into scalable data solutionsOperate effectively in fast-paced environments where speed and precision both matterWhat We’re Looking For5+ years of experience building production-grade data or backend systemsStrong proficiency in Python and SQLExperience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines and API integrationsFamiliarity with modern cloud data infrastructure and event-driven or streaming systemsAbility to operate independently and make sound technical decisions in ambiguous environmentsTrack record of building systems where data discovery, organization, and usability were core challengesNice to HaveExperience working with complex enterprise or operational datasetsExposure to systems supporting LLMs, retrieval pipelines, or agent-based workflowsExperience designing data contracts or managing structured context for AI systemsFamiliarity with access controls, identity, and data governance within pipelinesPrior experience in early-stage or zero-to-one environmentsCompensation$180,000 - $250,000 + significant equity and full benefits
