JMT is currently ranked #45 on Engineering News-Record’s list of the Top 500 Design Firms.Position Summary: Responsible for engineering design using knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute and coordinate assignments with limited supervision.Essential Functions And ResponsibilitiesPlan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope.Perform or check design computationsDesign projects in accordance with client specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing toolsAssist in the preparation of engineering documents for advertisement and constructionPrepare and compile contract plans, specifications and estimatesAttend meetings with clients and assist taking meeting minutesCoordinate with other disciplines and understand how they fit into the project and design.Quality review of project design in accordance with the Project Management Plan.Technical oversight and guidance/support of Design Engineers within departmentNonessential Functions And ResponsibilitiesPerform other related duties as assignedRequired SkillsBachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited engineering program5-10 years’ experience of Bridge, Culvert and Retaining Wall DesignProficient in Microsoft OfficeWritten and communication skillsEngineer-in-training certificationPreferred ExperienceSouth Carolina Professional Engineering License is a plusNBIS-compliant Bridge Inspection Team Leader3+ years of bridge inspection experienceFamiliarity with SCDOT bridge inspection procedures and reporting requirementsProficient in MicroStation, Bentley Software (OBD, RCPIER and Conspan), ETCulvert and other structural analysis software packagesUnderstanding of SCDOT guidelines, procedures, and plan preparationWorking ConditionsWork is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
