This role is ideal for a professional who thrives in a hands-on learning environment and is excited to help expand our program into electric and hybrid vehicle (EV/Hybrid) education, ultimately leading the development of a new degree pathway.You'll join a collaborative faculty team dedicated to workforce readiness, innovation, and student success-while making a lasting impact on the region we serve.What You'll DoTeaching & Student SuccessTeach a full range of automotive and diesel technology courses, including engine performance, transmissions, drivetrains, braking systems, and emerging EV/Hybrid technologiesDeliver engaging instruction through hands-on labs, demonstrations, and classroom learningEvaluate student progress, provide mentoring, and support academic and career successServe as an academic advisor when assignedCurriculum LeadershipDevelop, revise, and assess curricula aligned with industry standards and workforce needsLead efforts to expand EV/Hybrid automotive educationMaintain NATEF/ASE-aligned accreditation standardsEnsure labs and equipment remain current, safe, and industry-relevantProgram & Community EngagementCollaborate with faculty, department leadership, and advisory boardsBuild strong relationships with local dealerships, repair facilities, and industry partnersAssist with program recruitment, outreach, and marketingParticipate in college committees, meetings, and commencement exercisesWhat We're Looking ForRequired QualificationsAssociate degree (or equivalent) in automotive or diesel technologyFive (5) years of full-time industry experience in automotive and/or diesel technologyCurrent ASE certification in at least three (3) areasValid driver's licenseStrong instructional, communication, and organizational skillsPreferred QualificationsASE Master Diesel TechnicianTen (10) years of diesel industry experienceTeaching experience, preferably at the community college levelExperience with electric and hybrid vehicle technologiesSkills That Set You ApartExpertise in diagnosing and repairing engines, transmissions, drivetrains, and brake systemsAbility to teach diverse learners using multiple instructional methodsProficiency with Microsoft Office and D2L BrightspaceCommitment to safety, professionalism, and continuous improvementPassion for mentoring students and strengthening workforce pipelinesWhy Join New River CTC?Make a direct impact on students' careers and the regional workforceHelp lead the transition to EV and Hybrid automotive educationWork in a supportive academic environment focused on access, innovation, and qualityOngoing professional development, including LinkedIn Learning and industry affiliations
