Civil Project Designer - Northern Virginia
Civil Project Designer | Fairfax, VAIMEG is hiring a Civil Project Designer in Fairfax, VA, to lead design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for low to moderate complexity projects while collaborating with senior staff on larger, more complex work. You'll work closely with a team of engineers and consultants to deliver positive client outcomes through civil engineering analysis, design support, field inspections, reporting, and permit application support-while working within the project's monetary budget and collaborating across teams.Principal ResponsibilitiesDirect and train Civil Design Technicians to assist them in completing reports, exhibits, plans and specifications and permit applications as required by the project's contractual scopeLead design efforts for the analysis of civil site design projects for commercial, residential, industrial projects etc.; utilize engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standardsPrepare and support site drainage, grading, and stormwater design work as required by project scopeComplete and oversee permit applications for a variety of municipalities in coordination with the team, Client, and reviewing jurisdictionPerform engineering analysis, field inspections, and technical documentation to support project deliveryWrite reports and maintain clear project records to support internal and client needsOversee projects through bidding and construction administration phaseInteract with clients to understand their needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively; build and maintain client relationships through professional communicationRequired Qualifications and SkillsBachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent requiredEngineer-In-Training (EIT) certification preferred3 years of experience minimum required, or equivalent requiredEngineer-In-Training (EIT) certification preferred3 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the building design consulting industry ORAssociates degree, or certificate, in utilizing Autodesk Civil 3D or equivalent software tools or engineering preferred7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industryKnowledge of industry standard engineering software, primarily Civil 3DProficient with pipe networking and road corridors.Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specificationsStrong technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in the civil engineering fieldAbility to train and mentor less experienced staffAble to lead teams with others that utilize industry standard software that assists with civil engineering analysis and designExcellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groupsAbility to work collaboratively in a team environmentAbility to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groupsAbility to work collaboratively in a team environmentAttention to detail and problem-solving skillsEagerness to adapt to new challengesProficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and OutlookAbility to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight staysThis position is not eligible for sponsorship.Why Join Us IMEG puts people first-with a strong focus on career growth, work-life balance, and meaningful impact.
