Embedded Hardware EngineerAs the Embedded Hardware Engineer, you will participate in the design, integration, and improvement of the FW stacks for the main computational board embedded in our devices. This includes designing and implementing a wide range of low-level embedded software on our hardware platform, including device drivers, communication protocols, security requirements, refactoring and porting existing code, and other low-level programming activities.Responsibilities:Use technical knowledge to help influence decisions over multiple teams and productsParticipate in high-level reviews of architecture and product designsWork to drive the technology roadmaps for the organizationDemonstrate a high level of design creativity and positive impactWork to set engineering excellence and establish company best-practices efforts within the departmentAssist in the development of talent, career skills, and mentor engineersWork to explore external technology offerings. Work with external vendors regarding current and future technology needsKeep current with industry trends and technology by performing technology research and by attending industry trade shows and conferencesWork cross-functionally with various groups (HW, SW, Product, ME) to develop and validate potential new product and service offeringsDevelop intellectual properties based on the above to continue to build out and reinforce the patent portfolioBasic Qualifications:Passion for providing a great customer experience in all of our products through the quality and usability of released hardwareBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent required5+ years of hardware development experience including full life cycle and design-to delivery experienceHands-on experience in rapid prototyping of hardware, including utilizing dev kits, 3D printing, and embedded softwareFull product life-cycle experience, including brainstorming, product prototyping, and realization, design for very-low-cost manufacturing, high-volume manufacturing, and field supportExperience with PCB design and layout, including ORCAD design packageExperience with regulatory compliance for hardware including FCC, UL, IEEE-1725, and CECExperience with embedded system design including processor selection, communication protocols (USB, SPI, I2C, etc.), extremely low power design, sensor integration, and multi-radio integrationExperience with RF technology and RF design, especially for Bluetooth and Wi-FiExperience with basic mechanical design including CAD design tools such as SolidWorks and 3D modeling of electronic designsPreferred Qualifications:MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalentExperience with ARM multi-core processorsExperience with extremely battery efficient designsKnowledge of wireless BLE 4.0 protocols, TCP/IP networking, understand 802.
