Assistant ControllerContact: Brittany Rizzo / Brittany.Rizzo@roberthalf.comReference ID: BR0013377786Position SummaryThe Assistant Controller is the sole on-site accounting professional for the manufacturing facility and is responsible for the full day-to-day accounting function. This is a highly hands-on role requiring ownership of transactional accounting, month-end close, cost accounting, inventory, and financial reporting. The Assistant Controller partners closely with plant leadership while coordinating with corporate finance.This role is ideal for a self-directed accountant who thrives in an independent, operational environment and is comfortable balancing detailed work with higher-level financial analysis.Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral Accounting & CloseOwn the complete accounting function for the manufacturing sitePrepare and post journal entries, accruals, and reconciliationsPerform monthly, quarterly, and annual close activitiesMaintain the general ledger in accordance with GAAPPrepare financial statements and supporting schedulesCost Accounting & Manufacturing FinanceMaintain standard costs and analyze variances (labor, material, overhead)Partner with operations to understand production drivers and marginsAnalyze manufacturing performance and identify cost improvement opportunitiesSupport budgeting and forecasting for the plantInventory & Fixed AssetsManage inventory accounting, including cycle counts and physical inventoriesReconcile inventory balances and investigate variancesTrack capital expenditures and maintain fixed asset recordsCalculate and record depreciationAccounts Payable & Receivable OversightProcess or oversee AP transactions, vendor payments, and reconciliationsSupport AR activities, billing, and cash application as neededEnsure timely and accurate cash flow reportingCompliance, Audit & ControlsEnsure compliance with internal controls and corporate policiesSupport internal and external auditsAssist with tax filings and provide required documentationIdentify and implement process improvementsBusiness PartneringAct as the primary finance contact for plant managementProvide ad-hoc financial analysis and reportingCommunicate clearly with corporate finance and operations teamsRequirements• Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance roles within manufacturing.• Proficiency in month-end close processes and general ledger management.• Strong knowledge of financial statement audits and compliance standards.• Strong GAAP accounting and expertise in financial reporting and analysis.• Solid background in cost accounting practices.• Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills.• Strong communication and leadership abilities.• Advanced ERP System skills.
