Position SummarySandestin Golf & Beach Resort is in search of a dedicated and experienced Ground Maintenance Technician/Equipment Operator to join our team. The selected candidate will play a vital role in preserving the visual appeal and functionality of our four championship golf courses. Working closely with the grounds keeping team, the Ground Maintenance Technician will ensure the landscapes are maintained at peak condition, contributing to an exceptional experience for our guests.
Key ResponsibilitiesTurf Management: Execute regular maintenance tasks related to turf care, including mowing, edging, aerating, and fertilizing to uphold the impeccable condition of the golf courses.
Irrigation System Maintenance: Monitor and sustain the irrigation systems to ensure proper functioning, making necessary repairs or adjustments as needed.
Landscaping: Contribute to the planning and execution of landscaping projects, encompassing planting, pruning, and maintaining flower beds and other ornamental features.
Equipment Operation: Competently operate and maintain grounds keeping equipment such as mowers, tractors, and other specialized machinery.
Pest Control: Implement effective pest control measures to safeguard the turf, plants, and trees from pests and diseases.
Course Setup: Collaborate in the setup of the golf courses for daily play, tournaments, and special events, ensuring that all aspects meet the highest standards.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols, ensuring a secure working environment for yourself and others.
Collaboration: Work closely with the grounds keeping team, golf professionals, and other resort staff to coordinate efforts and address specific needs.
QualificationsPrevious experience in golf course maintenance or landscaping is preferred.
Knowledge of turf management practices, irrigation systems, and landscaping techniques.
Ability to operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed.
Physical RequirementsAbility to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions, including heat, humidity, rain, cold, and direct sunlight
Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb for long periods throughout the workday
Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials, tools, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, and occasionally more with assistance
Operate golf course maintenance equipment safely and efficiently, including mowers, tractors, utility vehicles, blowers, trimmers, and other groundskeeping machinery
Ability to use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruning tools, and irrigation repair equipment for extended periods
Must be able to perform repetitive physical tasks such as mowing, edging, digging, raking, lifting, and debris removal
Ability to work on uneven terrain, slopes, wet surfaces, and around sand, water, and landscaped areas
Requires good hand-eye coordination, depth perception, and attention to detail when operating machinery and maintaining course conditions
Must be able to tolerate exposure to dust, pollen, grass clippings, fertilizers, pesticides, and other outdoor environmental elements
Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed to support golf course operations and tournament schedules
