The Core Office of the Chief Advocacy & Engagement Officer is looking for you! Our team supports the Chief Advocacy & Engagement Officer in day-to-day activities, issues, and deliverables. We'll challenge you to think and work innovatively on real-world projects. AARP is committed to your growth and cultivating your continued learning and development. This paid internship has an anticipated start date of January 2026 and will run through May, with the possibility of extending additional semesters.ResponsibilitiesThis internship includes but is not limited to research, drafting communications, and other duties as assigned. As an intern, you will gain valuable work experience and have the opportunity to participate in and expand your knowledge of the communication process.Work closely with the Core Office of the Chief Advocacy & Engagement Officer's staff to support the EVP with timely research analysis and briefingsPrepare materials utilizing PowerPoint, Word documents, and Excel spreadsheetsGather research and compile information on various topics; this could include communications with fellow interns & subject matter experts, online searches, reviewing publications, and accessing library materialsCompose communication materials and support the EVP's speechwriter with background researchMaintain confidentiality of all AARP's internal informationQualificationsMust be enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college/university, rising undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate students, or post-doctoral students and remain academically enrolled throughout the internship, or must have previously graduated from college and enrolled in a continuing education programExceptional verbal/written communication skillsMust be a self-starter and adaptable to work under tight deadlinesTechnical proficiency in Microsoft Office programsRegular and reliable job attendanceExhibit respect and understanding of others to maintain professional relationshipsIndependent judgment in evaluation options to make sound decisionsAARP will not sponsor an employment visa for this position at this time.Additional RequirementsRegular and reliable job attendanceExhibit respect and understanding of others to maintain professional relationshipsIn office/open office environment with the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noiseHybrid Work EnvironmentAARP observes Mondays and Fridays as remote workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work can only be done within the United States and its territories.Compensation and BenefitsThe hourly range is $18 for undergraduates, $21 for graduate students, and $28 for Ph.D. candidates.
