This leadership role will be responsible for building and managing a high-performing team, developing client relationships, and driving strategic growth in the electrical infrastructure market.The ideal candidate is both a technical expert and business builder—capable of delivering high-quality engineering solutions while growing market share and strengthening LJA’s presence in the T&D sector.A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE:Applies knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas using advanced techniques, theory, precepts and practices in the water resources field.Plans, coordinates, designs and direct projects with many complex features consisting of wastewater treatment plants, water supply plant design, sewage lift / pump station and force main design, water transmission lines, and storm water lift stations for both public works clients and municipal utility districtsLeads and participates with peers in business development efforts to grow the business from the ground up.Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructionsConform to all safety rules and use all appropriate safety equipmentAbility to communicate and meet with various City Councils and Public Works staff.Build, lead, and mentor a team of electrical engineers and designersEstablish performance expectations, provide coaching, and foster professional developmentDevelop staffing plans aligned with project workload and strategic growth goalsPromote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and technical excellenceRecruit, hire, and retain top engineering talentDevelop pipelines for future staffing needsLead onboarding and integration of new team membersBusiness Development & Client RelationsIdentify and pursue new business opportunities in electrical transmission and distributionDevelop and maintain strong relationships with utilities, municipalities, and private clientsLead proposal development, interviews, and contract negotiationsCollaborate with other service lines to cross-sell and expand client engagementsTechnical OversightProvide senior-level guidance on design and execution of T&D projects (substations, transmission lines, distribution systems)Ensure projects meet quality standards, budgets, and schedulesStay current with industry trends, codes, and emerging technologiesREQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:Bachelor of Science, Civil Engineering is requiredRegistration as a Licensed Professional EngineerREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:15+ years of specialized experienceStrong communication skillsAbility to build strong relationshipsLEVEL UP WITH LJAAt LJA, we’re 100% employee-owned.
