Nursing Assistant Trainee
JOB REQUIREMENTS: The Wisconsin Veterans Home at King (WVHK) isrecruiting for a limited-term employment (LTE) Nursing Assistant 1(Trainee), to join our dedicated Nursing team. The position begins witha 18-day training class, the class is scheduled to begin June 15, 2026at our Wisconsin Veterans Home at King. The class is limited to 8 staff.The Home is a 24/7/365 long-term care facility that specializes inproviding comfort, support, and professional healthcare services toelderly or disabled veterans and spouses of veterans. Our facility is onthe picturesque shoreline of the Chain O\'Lakes, off Highway 10, betweenStevens Point and Appleton, Wisconsin. This agency is committed toserving Wisconsin\'s veteran population. Our positions offer thesatisfaction of serving those who have served us all. Our NursingAssistant Trainees are required to attend all hours of training with thecore hours of 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., MondayFriday (approximately 3 weeks of training). The shifts with the greatestneed are PM (1:45pm - 10:15pm) and NOC (10:00pm - 6:00am). There isflexibility with scheduling of hours/shifts in LTE positions, aftercourse completion, based on departmental need. LTE jobs are limited to1,039 hours in a 12-month period and do not include employee benefits.Nursing Assistant Trainee\'s must be able to assist with mobilityefforts; wear protective clothing and use special safety equipment;lift, carry, push, pull, reach, stand, sit, kneel, squat; stand and/orwalk up to 75% of eight-hour day. These requirements cover the major andEssential Functions Of The Position But Are Not Necessarilyrepresentative of all duties which this position may be assigned toperform. Due to the nature of the position, WDVA will conduct a criminalbackground check prior to an offer of employment. Employment in thisposition is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB)skin test. \*\*\*\*\* OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Minimallyqualified applicants will: Able to attend all hours of training; 16years of age on or before the effective date of the appointment, June15, 2026; Work or volunteer experience in customer service. Performingcare procedures in formal or informal settings such as infant, child,adult, or animal care Computer experience Well-qualified applicants willhave experience: Performing care procedures for an adult or disabledpopulation such as but not limited to Assisted Living Settings, PrivateCare or In Home Able to communicate effectively with a wide variety ofpeople and/or experience in a team setting. Problem solving Computerexperience in health care CPR certified Per Wisconsin Statute 230.26,Wisconsin residency is required for LTE appointments.
