This role assists with organizing events, managing logistics, supporting program operations, and ensuring a welcoming and positive experience for participants.This position plays a key role in supporting Rafiki Coalition's community-based health initiatives, including HIV testing and prevention, harm reduction services, and behavioral health outreach. The role focuses on increasing access to services, reducing barriers to care, and building trust within the communities served.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESEvent Coordination and SupportAssist in planning and organizing community events, workshops, outreach activities, and program-related gatheringsCoordinate event logistics including venue setup, materials preparation, registration, and participant check-inMaintain event calendars and assist with scheduling activities and resourcesSupport event promotion through outreach, community partnerships, and communication with participantsSupport on-site event operations including registration, volunteer coordination, and participant assistanceAssist with outreach and coordination for health-focused events such as HIV testing days, harm reduction outreach events, and community wellness fairsHelp ensure event environments are welcoming, inclusive, trauma-informed, and responsive to community needsCommunity EngagementServe as a welcoming point of contact for community members attending events or programsHelp build and maintain relationships with community partners, volunteers, and participantsRepresent Rafiki Coalition in a professional, respectful, and culturally responsive manner at community eventsEngage community members in a way that builds trust, reduces stigma, and supports equitable access to servicesSupport outreach strategies that prioritize underserved and historically marginalized communitiesPublic Health Program SupportAssist with implementation of public health initiatives, including HIV testing and prevention services, harm reduction programs, and behavioral health outreachSupport participant flow, registration, and coordination during testing events and outreach activitiesHelp distribute harm reduction supplies and educational materials in alignment with program guidelinesFollow established safety, confidentiality, and public health protocolsAssist in connecting community members to available services, including testing, treatment, and behavioral health resourcesProgram SupportProvide administrative support to program staff in the implementation of community initiativesAssist with tracking participation, maintaining program records, and preparing basic reportsHelp distribute program materials, supplies, and informational resources to participants and community partnersSupport follow-up communication with program participants and stakeholdersAssist in tracking outreach outcomes and basic program metrics related to community health initiativesSupport coordination across multiple programs to ensure consistency in service delivery and messagingAdministrative and Operational SupportAssist with ordering and organizing program supplies and materials, including outreach and harm reduction suppliesSupport data entry and maintenance of participant databases or program tracking systemsHelp prepare presentations, outreach materials, and event documentationEnsure materials and communications are culturally relevant, accessible, and aligned with program goalsSupport compliance with program protocols, including confidentiality, data handling, and public health reporting expectationsRequirements:Education and ExperienceAssociate's degree or equivalent experience in public health, community development, nonprofit management, or a related field preferredAt least one year of experience supporting events, outreach, or community-based programs preferredExperience working in community health, harm reduction, or behavioral health settings strongly preferredCultural Competency and Community TrustDemonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse communities, including communities disproportionately impacted by health inequitiesCommitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practicesAbility to build trust and rapport within underserved communitiesExperience working in community-centered, grassroots, or peer-based environments preferredKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesStrong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple prioritiesExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and community membersComfort working in community-based settings, including outdoor or non-traditional environmentsProficiency in Microsoft Office or Google WorkspaceAbility to work evenings and weekends as needed for eventsAdditional Information:Working ConditionsCombination of office, community, and event-based environmentsRegular work in community settings, including outdoor locations and partner sitesOccasional evening and weekend work requiredPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand and move for extended periods during eventsAbility to lift and transport materials (up to approximately 25 pounds)Application Instructions:Provide your resume and a cover letter explaining why you are interested in a job at Rafiki.Compensation details: 28-32 Hourly WagePIcab17c20dfe9-26289-40162717
