By investing in our employees and fostering open communication, we create an environment that supports long-term relationships—with both our team and our clients.Job SummaryThe Bowers Group, a Legence company, is seeking an experienced Sr. Estimator to support mechanical and plumbing construction projects from concept through bid submission. This position is responsible for developing accurate, timely, and competitive cost estimates while partnering closely with operations, project management, vendors, and clients.This position works onsite daily in Beltsville, MD and may be union or non union.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare detailed and accurate mechanical and/or plumbing estimates for commercial and industrial projectsAnalyze drawings, MEP specifications, and bid documents to develop complete scopes of workUtilize estimating software (Quote Express, AutoBid/AutoBid Pro, or similar platforms) to generate pricingSolicit, review, and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotationsIdentify constructability issues, scope gaps, and potential cost risksCollaborate with project managers, engineers, and operations teams during preconstructionParticipate in bid reviews, value engineering efforts, and proposal preparationMaintain historical cost data and lessons learned to improve estimating accuracyProvide post bid support and assist with project handoffRequired Skills & Qualifications5+ years of estimating experience in mechanical and/or plumbing constructionStrong proficiency with Quote Express, AutoBid/AutoBid Pro (or AutoBid Visual), and MS Office SuiteDemonstrated experience reading and interpreting MEP specifications and construction drawingsHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredU.S. work authorization required, no visa sponsorship availableExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong customer service experience with internal and external partnersProven ability to work collaboratively in a team based environmentHigh attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience estimating design assist projectsField experience in mechanical or plumbing constructionExperience with scheduling, takeoffs, and cost databasesAbility to mentor junior estimatorsAdditional InformationOnsite position based in Beltsville, MDTypical working hours for this role are 7am – 5pmHourly rate: $67.00 - $81.00There is no visa sponsorship available for this position.
