Job Opportunity: Gardener & Landscape Steward - Osmosis Day Spa Sanctuary | Freestone, CAAbout the RoleOsmosis Day Spa Sanctuary is seeking an inspired horticulturalist to steward our legacy Japanese-inspired meditation gardens and surrounding landscape. For over 30 years, our gardens have been a cornerstone of the Osmosis experience—an immersive, living work of art that sets the tone for deep relaxation and renewal. As our longtime garden artist transitions out of the role, we are looking for a passionate successor to carry this vision forward.This is a rare opportunity to step into a well-established workplace culture and co-create a legendary guest experience in one of Sonoma County's most beloved sanctuaries. You'll also work alongside our specialty Japanese garden pruner—a master of maples and pines who has shaped our landscape for three decades and visits weekly to prune, mentor, guide, and collaborate with our gardening team.What You'll DoSteward the gardens with daily care, seasonal planning, and a long-term vision that honors the existing aesthetic while allowing the landscape to evolve gracefully.Maintain plant health through thoughtful watering, consistent and attentive weeding, organic soil building, composting, mulching, and non-toxic, integrated pest management.Keep the gardens immaculate through regular weeding, bed edging, path tending, and seasonal cleanup—recognizing that the quiet beauty of a Japanese garden depends on this careful, ongoing attention.Manage and maintain drip irrigation systems, including troubleshooting, repairs, and seasonal adjustments.Perform ornamental pruning of specimen shrubs and other plantings, with an emphasis on Japanese-style techniques. Our longtime specialty pruner is available to mentor and train you in the care of our signature maples and pines.Collaborate with the Osmosis team to ensure the gardens integrate seamlessly with the guest experience, from the arrival path through every garden element on the property.What We're Looking ForDemonstrated experience in ornamental horticulture, ideally in a public-facing or hospitality setting.Strong knowledge of plant identification, organic growing practices, soil biology, and non-toxic pest control.A diligent, patient approach to weeding and daily garden upkeep—understanding that this detailed work is the foundation of a beautiful landscape.Proficiency with drip irrigation installation, and repair.Skill in ornamental pruning; experience with Japanese garden aesthetics and techniques is highly desirable, and a willingness to learn from our on-site pruning master is essential.A refined aesthetic eye, attention to detail, and the patience to tend a landscape as a long-term art form.Self-directed work ethic balanced with the collaborative spirit of a tight-knit team.Physical ability to perform garden work in all weather, including lifting, bending, and using hand and power tools safely.A calm, grounded presence that aligns with the contemplative nature of our sanctuary.Schedule & CompensationApproximately 32 hours per week, with some flexibility around seasonal needs.$35–$45 per hour DOE.Benefits include, health insurance, complimentary and discounted spa services, a beautiful outdoor work environment, ongoing mentorship from our master pruner, and the chance to care for a truly unique landscape.To ApplyPlease send a resume, a brief letter describing your connection to garden stewardship, and (if available) photos of gardens you've tended to hr@osmosis.com.
