Clean Energy Engineer - mid-level

EMC Insights is seeking a Clean Energy Engineer to join our rapidly growing team in New Jersey. We are looking for a technically skilled, self-motivated individual who shares our passion for energy efficiency. The successful candidate will be located in New Jersey or willing to relocate there within six months. As a Clean Energy Engineer, you will be a key member of our consulting team supporting custom energy efficiency programs in New Jersey. These programs are technically challenging, require critical thinking, and will expose you to various energy consumption and efficiency calculations. The Clean Energy Engineer will be a key technical and field resource, assessing the impact of energy efficiency programs, conducting onsite visits at commercial and industrial facilities, and working with customers to develop energy savings estimates for large and complex energy efficiency projects.Ideal LocationsMust be located in New Jersey, US - northern to central areas preferredThis is a remote (work-from-home) position with travel to customer sitesDuties and ResponsibilitiesCoordinate daily with customers and Trade Allies to help support their participation in utility-sponsored custom energy efficiency incentive programsConduct inspections to verify installation and operation of baseline and replacement energy-efficient equipmentProvide technical and non-technical support to utility customers and Trade AlliesProduce high-quality engineering deliverables (spreadsheets, calculators, reports) with some support and coordination from peers or senior engineersSupport the development of new energy efficiency measures for existing / new energy efficiency programs while demonstrating technical understandingEstablish and maintain a professional customer rapport, including identifying and anticipating customer needs and proposing solutionsPromptly and accurately address Trade Ally and customer concerns to assure problem resolution and promote long-term productive relationshipsUnderstand the organization and decision-making process to work with stakeholders in determining project eligibility, schedule, and potential energy savingsPerform and review energy savings calculations for evaluating energy savings and environmental impactEfficiently manage multiple projects, provide timely updates, and ensure customers and service providers are updated with program informationCommunicate efficiently with Trade Allies, customers, and clients to meet program requirements -- both in person and virtuallyMaintain quality control of all deliverable products, demonstrating objectivity and clarity while maintaining project schedulesOther duties as assignedMust have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicleRequirements and QualificationsBS or MS Degree – mechanical, industrial, electrical, or chemical engineering or related fieldDemonstrated understanding of mechanical, electrical, and industrial energy fundamentals including lighting, heat transfer, HVAC, thermodynamics, and mechanical systemsExcellent verbal and written communications skills and the ability to articulate your ideas, both in person and in a virtual working environmentStrong organizational skills and experience coordinating various parties and accounting for multiple variablesProficient with Microsoft Office products (specifically Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint)Located in, or willing to relocate to, central or northern New JerseyMust be a detail-oriented, organized, self-starter, and have an ability to prioritize workloadMust have a valid driver’s license, access to a vehicle and able to travel locally up to 50% of the timePreferred Skills and Experience 3 - 6 years of energy efficiency or clean energy program implementation or evaluation experience, including internshipsPrevious experience with the Industrial Assessment Center (IAC) programCommercial and industrial building optimization and/or energy management experiencePrevious project management experienceExperience conducting ASHRAE Level 1 and/or Level II auditsCertifications such CMVP, CEM, PE, and related are desiredWhat You Will Get in Return:Engaging work environmentCompetitive wage, based on experience and qualificationsFlexible personal time off (15 days) and 10 holidays, including two flex holidaysMaternity/Paternity paid leaveRemote work401(k) PlanMedical, vision, and dental insuranceLife insurance and short-term and long-term disability insuranceReimbursement for annual professional development training or certificationMileage reimbursement for the use of a personal vehicleThe opportunity to have a positive impact on our environment and grow as a professional in the clean energy industry
