Charge RN - Pre-op and PACU
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Charge RN for our Pre-Op/PACU department to lead and support daily clinical operations while delivering exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate is a strong clinical leader with excellent communication and organizational skills who thrives in a fast-paced surgical environment. This role is responsible for coordinating patient flow, supporting nursing staff, ensuring compliance with clinical standards, and promoting a safe and efficient perioperative experience for patients and families.ResponsibilitiesProvide leadership and clinical oversight for Pre-Op and PACU nursing staff during assigned shiftsCoordinate daily patient flow and staffing assignments to ensure efficient surgical operationsDeliver direct patient care including assessments, medication administration, IV starts, monitoring, and recovery care as neededMonitor patients recovering from anesthesia and respond appropriately to changes in condition or emergenciesCollaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of careServe as a clinical resource and mentor for nursing staff and assist with problem-solving and conflict resolutionEnsure compliance with regulatory requirements, infection control standards, and patient safety protocolsAssist with scheduling, staffing adjustments, and department workflow managementSupport patient and family education regarding procedures, recovery expectations, and discharge instructionsMaintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record systemParticipate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental training activitiyQualificationsCurrent Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standingBLS and ACLS certifications requiredPALS certification preferred (if applicable to facility/patient population)Minimum of 3–5 years of Pre-Op, PACU, or perioperative nursing experience preferredPrevious charge nurse or leadership experience strongly preferredStrong critical thinking, organizational, and communication skillsAbility to multitask and lead effectively in a fast-paced clinical environmentExperience with electronic medical records (EMR) systemsCommitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care and fostering a collaborative team culture
