As Manager, Facilities for our Extreme Precision Optics (EPO) business, you will lead a small team (and external contractors at times) to manage the facilities operations, maintenance and environmental health and safety program. You will report to the site Director, Operations with a functional line to Zygo's Manager of EHS.
Key Responsibilities
Facilities
Lead preventive and predictive maintenance programs for building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing), including contract and vendor management for repairs, security, and maintenance
Maintain facility layout plans and ensure compliance with building codes
Own budgets for repairs, renovations, and vendor contracts
Prepare and manage budgets for facility, aligned with Zygo HQ
Manage site CAPEX facilities related projects
EHS and Sustainability
In coordination with Zygo's Manager of EHS, develop, implement, and maintain EH&S programs, in compliance with OSHA, EPA, Cal/OSHA, Corporate, state, federal and local policies and regulations
Ensure accountability of team and cross‑team for compliance with policies, programs, and regulations
Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and hazard analyses and maintain accurate records for compliance, inspection and other reporting requirements
Lead emergency preparedness planning, including fire safety, evacuation drills, and disaster recovery; respond to facility‑related emergencies; implement corrective actions
Investigate, with support of Human Resources, all incidents and in collaboration with leadership, implement corrective actions
Oversee site waste management, hazardous materials handling/disposal, water conservation and other sustainability initiatives
Monitor environmental impact and implement continuous improvement strategies.
Ensure compliance with sustainability standards and all corporate environmental goals
Required Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in EH&S, industrial or environmental engineering; project management certification preferred
6+ years of project/facility management in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated ability to understand technical specs and manufacturing processes; optics or precision component manufacturing preferred
Working knowledge of EH&S regulations, ISO-9001 standards and Cal/OSHA; Total Quality Management principles a plus
Collaborative, with ability to lead across functional teams and manage vendor relationships
Initiative‑taking communicator who has a bias for action and able to manage multiple stakeholders and challenge up, sometimes with competing demands.
Highly ethical with standards for sustainability and adherence to policies and regulations; ability to identify and mitigate risk
Detail‑oriented and organized to prepare reports, budgets, schedules
Results driven, solution‑oriented problem‑solver
Ability to work with and in ERP systems as well as project management software (MS Project and Microsoft Navision a plus)
