Senior Staff Data EngineerUS, remote | $225K–$290K base + equityMy client is a global fintech whose blockchain-based dollar infrastructure powers payments and commerce worldwide.This is not a traditional pipeline or warehouse role. The Senior Staff IC will own long-term strategy for data reliability, quality and operational excellence – identifying systemic weaknesses and building the frameworks, standards and operating mechanisms that prevent entire classes of failure across teams.You will:Set company-wide standards for data quality, contracts, ownership and governanceDesign reliability and observability frameworks: SLIs/SLOs, alerting, incident response, error budgetsDrive cross-functional prioritisation and influence build-vs-buy decisionsMentor senior engineers on ambiguous, cross-cutting data problemsYou bring:Extensive experience operating scalable data platforms focused on reliability, quality and observabilityDeep expertise in data modelling, pipeline design and distributed systemsProven delivery of data quality frameworks, SLAs, data contracts and governanceTrack record leading complex cross-team initiativesExperience applying AI tools to design and build solutionsBonus: fintech/payments/crypto background; Airflow, dbt, BigQuery, Kafka, Kubernetes, Terraform; ledger or reconciliation experience.US work authorisation required.
