Paralegal Supreme Court & Appellate
OverviewA leading law firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to support complex, large-scale appellate matters, including cases before the United States Supreme Court and federal and state appellate courts. This role involves comprehensive support across all phases of appellate litigation and requires a high level of precision, organization, and collaboration. Overtime and occasional travel may be required.ResponsibilitiesSupport attorneys in all phases of appellate litigation, including brief preparation, filing, and case managementPrepare, review, cite-check, and format briefs, appendices, and other filings in compliance with court rulesCompile and organize appellate records, including trial court materials and transcriptsManage deadlines, briefing schedules, and jurisdiction-specific procedural requirementsConduct legal research and perform expert-level Bluebook citation and cite-checkingVerify record citations and accuracy of legal authoritiesCoordinate printing, binding, service, and electronic filing (e.g., PACER, CM/ECF)Assist with oral argument preparation, including moot court materials and presentation bindersMaintain organized case files, databases, and tracking systems for filings and case developmentsCollaborate with attorneys, staff, vendors, and court personnel; oversee junior staff as neededPrepare summaries of appellate decisions and support general litigation and administrative tasks RequirementsBachelor's degree required; strong academic credentials preferredMinimum of 5 years of paralegal experience in a law firm or similar environmentExperience supporting appellate or complex litigation matters preferredAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe ProfessionalStrong knowledge of legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis, PACER)Excellent writing, proofreading, and Bluebook citation skillsHighly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlinesStrong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skillsTeam-oriented with the ability to work independently and maintain confidentialityExperience with eDiscovery tools (e.g., Relativity, Case Notebook) is a plus
