Cardiac Cath Lab Technician (PRN)GW Health is the first new full-service hospital in Washington, DC in more than 20 years! This teaching hospital integrates clinical care with existing providers, The George Washington University Hospital, and the Urgent Care Center in Ward 8. This clinical integration establishes a robust system of care for all District residents, but more importantly, it will ensure residents of Wards 7 and 8 have access to high quality care in their community. This full-service hospital includes 136 beds (with the ability to expand to 184 beds), a verified trauma center, adult and pediatric emergency departments, maternal health and delivery, an ambulatory pavilion for physician offices, clinics, a community space, a 500-car garage and a helipad for emergency transports.We are seeking an experienced Cardiac Cath Lab Technician (PRN). Our ideal candidate is a skilled and patient-focused Cardiac Cath Lab Technologist (RCIS) who fulfills the needs of patients, families, and the community by delivering high-quality care in a specialized procedural environment. This individual performs a variety of patient care functions in accordance with licensure, certification, training, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, high-acuity setting, demonstrating the ability to respond effectively to new and changing work assignments. They bring strong technical expertise, adaptability, and a commitment to patient safety while supporting cardiovascular diagnostic and interventional procedures.Job duties/responsibilities include:Assists cardiologists and physicians during cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures (e.g., angiograms, PCI, stent placement, electrophysiology support)Prepares and maintains the cardiac cath lab environment, ensuring all equipment and supplies are ready and functioning properlyOperates hemodynamic monitoring systems and records accurate patient data throughout proceduresScrubs, circulates, and monitors cases as assigned within scope of practicePrepares and administers contrast media and medications as directed and within scopeMonitors patient status during procedures, including vital signs and cardiac rhythms, and reports changes immediatelyMaintains sterile technique and ensures adherence to infection prevention standardsEnsures radiation safety for patients and staff, utilizing appropriate shielding and dose reduction practicesAssists with sheath removal and post-procedure patient care as applicableDocuments procedures, patient care activities, and outcomes accurately in the EMR and cath lab systemsCollaborates with nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure safe and efficient patient careParticipates in emergency procedures, including STEMI response and on-call coveragePerforms equipment quality checks and reports malfunctions or maintenance needsSupports patient throughput by assisting with timely preparation, transport, and recovery processesParticipates in quality improvement initiatives and maintains required competencies and certificationsQualifications requirements include:Associate's degree in Cardiovascular Technology, Radiologic Technology, or related field requiredRCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) certification requiredBLS (Basic Life Support) certification requiredACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification required or obtained within 6 months of hireARRT or additional cardiovascular credentials preferredMinimum 2 years of experience in a cardiac catheterization lab or interventional cardiovascular setting requiredExperience assisting with diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures (e.g., coronary angiography, PCI, device implantation preferred)Experience with hemodynamic monitoring and cath lab documentation systemsEEO Statement: All UHS subsidiaries are committed to providing an environment of mutual respect where equal employment opportunities are available to all applicants and teammates.
