We are hiring an ML Engineer or an AI Engineer to join Proteus in San Francisco/London.Company Description: We are building a Biological Intelligence Platform for the autonomous discovery of personalised medicine. Our platform reasons over disease targets, designs therapeutic and diagnostic candidates, and continuously learns from experimental results.We are looking for someone who: Has strong ML engineering fundamentals and can take systems from idea to productionHas experience with post-training, SFT, RL, preference optimization, evals, reward models, or data pipelinesOperates with a high degree of autonomyOR Has scaled AI systems and can take them from idea to productionHas built agentic systems end to end, planning, tool use, and orchestrationHas built the benchmarks and evals to know whether any of it actually worksHas worked with biological foundation modelsANDIdeally knows biology, although curiosity and the ability to learn quickly matter moreWants to leave the world better than they found itBiology experience is valuable, but not required.
