Location: Rochester, NY Category: Peer Tutor Job Type: Part Time Posted On: Mon Oct 2 2023 Job Description:Function of Position:Reporting to the Director of Learning Support Systems, Peer Tutors are current MCC students who work with other students to help them to develop effective learning strategies and to become self-regulated learners. These tutors help students with discipline-specific content.Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:Primary Functions:Foster the development of independent, intentional learners;Help students understand and use effective learning strategiesProvide tutor assistance in subject areas in one-on-one and group settingsDevelop and nurture rapport with students, peers, and facultyAttend training activities to comply with certification requirements before and/or during semestersAdhere to tutoring center protocol and tutoring expectations as outlined in the Tutor HandbookPromote critical thinking and problem solvingHelp to identify and fill learning gaps with discipline specific contentCollaborate with the Director of Learning Support Systems on providing workshops to fill learning gaps of both tutors and students with discipline specific content.
