Director Of SecurityThe Director of Security serves as the key point of contact for the JCC and provides strategic direction and leadership for all aspects of security. The Director of Security oversees the security services and related operations, including client service, problem resolution, service enhancement, and account development and is the team leader for catastrophic response. The Director of Security is responsible for physical security and logical security technologies, contract management, industry-recommended practices, and is expected to have a solid knowledge of security and risk frameworks.You maintain composure in dealing with authorities, executives, clients, staff and the public, occasionally under conditions of urgency and in pressure situations. You have experience with discreet handling of sensitive and confidential information.Security Staff ManagementOversee and directly supervise/manage of security staff. Develop protocols for all first aid incidents, ensure Security team is receiving all appropriate and review all incident reports.Foster a culture of safety, service, and professionalism within the security department.Employee and Visitor SecurityDevelop and implement security plan for daily activities at the JCC's 4 locations including the Early Childhood Center and a multitude of other regular gatherings.Develop and implement security plan for special events, and all large gatherings.Develop and implement building access protocols for staff and visitors, including Early Childhood Center families.Coordinate and manage the response to critical incidents, including medical emergencies, bomb threats, fires, and other urgent safety concerns.Investigate workplace security issues such as theftThreat AssessmentConduct regular physical walkthroughs of each JCC facility for security violations, fire safety hazards, suspicious individuals, packages, etc.Develop protocols for security checks for all incoming mail and ensure that all reports of threatening emails or phone calls are thoroughly investigated and resolvedCoordinate with local law enforcement authorities and review daily security briefings from NYPD, federal partners and private entities, such as the Community Security Initiative.Assess vulnerabilities and recommend new strategies and/or technologies when appropriateRegularly attend supplemental security training to stay abreast of latest security trendsMaintain and create relationships with outside security and law enforcement contacts regarding security related issuesSecurity Infrastructure/Administrative DutiesOversee video surveillance equipment and systems and ensure they remain in good working orderResearch, recommend selection, and engage vendors for security-related servicesEnsure compliance of lost property storage and safekeeping Security Vendor Account Oversight:Meet as needed with outside security vendor(s) for account reviews; addresses any actual or potential problems; supports security planning, assessments and surveys; coordinates review and updates of post orders; ensures contract compliance.Maintain a positive, professional environment in full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures; ensures that staff members understand and comply with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.Preferred RequirementsBachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Homeland Security or related degree, and/or attendance at Government sponsored security/law enforcement related schools, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.Ten (10) years related security/military/law enforcement experienceExperience with crisis management, investigation skills, security technology (CCTV) expertise, life safety, risk management, guest service, and access control systems.Ability to discern security threats based on information received from law enforcement agencies.Ability to provide effective direction to staff and maintain professional composure in response to high-pressured, emergency situations.Core CompetenciesMust be a good multi-tasker and able to manage time well.Ability to provide positive direction and motivate performance.Ability to adapt to changes in the external environment and organization.Strong verbal and written communication skillProficient in Outlook and experience with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, etc.Salary $65,000-$70,000 per year Hours & LocationHours to be determined in consultation with the Chief Operating OfficerExpected to work various larger scale events such as, which may fall on evenings and weekendsBenefits The JCC of Staten Island is committed to keeping you and your family healthy and happy through a comprehensive benefits program.
