Welding Process Engineer
Job Title: Sr. Process Engineer – ExemptLocation: Brooklyn Center, MN 55430Role Overview:The Sr. Process Engineer will join the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering – Joining/Welding team and focus on developing, optimizing, validating, and scaling manufacturing processes for medical devices.Key Responsibilities:Develop and qualify laser, resistance, and micro-welding/joining processes.Lead process development, improvement, DOE, and validation activities.Optimize welding parameters using statistical analysis and capability studies.Own Control Plans, Process Instructions, validation protocols/reports, and ECOs.Support process transfer from development to manufacturing.Work with equipment vendors on welding equipment, fixtures, installation, and qualification.Support NCR, CAPA, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement activities.Collaborate with R&D, Quality, Operations, and Manufacturing teams.Must-Have Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or related technical field.5+ years of Process/Manufacturing/Advanced Manufacturing Engineering experience.Hands-on experience with laser welding, resistance welding, micro-welding, thermal joining, or similar processes.Strong experience with DOE, process development, validation, and structured problem solving.Experience in medical device or another highly regulated industry preferred.Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.Nice to Have:IPG laser experience.Minitab/statistical analysis experience.Automation, robotics, vision systems, or custom equipment experience.ISO 13485, FDA QSR, GMP knowledge.NPI/process transfer experience.Lean/Six Sigma experience.
