*Technical Project Manager – Java / AI / BankingJob Summary* We are seeking an experienced *Technical Project Manager* to lead and manage complex technology initiatives for one of our enterprise banking clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation in *Java and enterprise application development*, combined with excellent project management, communication, and stakeholder-management skills. The successful candidate will serve as a key liaison between *business stakeholders, technology teams, architects, developers, vendors, and senior leadership*, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with business and technology objectives. The role requires someone who understands modern technology trends, particularly *Artificial Intelligence (AI)*, and can contribute to the development and execution of an *AI technology roadmap*. Candidates with prior experience in the *banking or financial services industry* are strongly preferred. This is a highly visible role requiring strong communication skills, technical credibility, leadership, and the ability to work directly with client stakeholders. *Key Responsibilities* * Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of complex *technology and application development projects* from initiation through implementation. * Manage project scope, schedule, milestones, dependencies, risks, issues, resources, and deliverables. * Serve as the primary point of contact between the client, business stakeholders, technology teams, and project leadership. * Work closely with *Java development teams, software architects, engineering teams, QA, DevOps, data teams, and infrastructure teams*. * Provide technical project leadership and demonstrate a strong understanding of *Java-based enterprise applications and software development life cycles*. * Translate business requirements and strategic objectives into actionable technology initiatives and project plans. * Develop and maintain detailed project plans, roadmaps, schedules, status reports, and executive-level presentations. * Identify project risks, dependencies, and technical challenges and develop appropriate mitigation strategies. * Facilitate project meetings, architecture discussions, planning sessions, stakeholder reviews, and executive status meetings. * Monitor project progress and proactively communicate status, risks, issues, and dependencies to stakeholders and leadership. * Coordinate multiple technical workstreams and ensure alignment across development, testing, infrastructure, security, data, and deployment teams. * Manage vendor and third-party relationships where applicable. * Ensure projects follow established *SDLC, Agile, Scrum, governance, security, and compliance processes*. * Work with technical leadership to evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities for modernization and automation. * Support the development and execution of an *AI/ML roadmap*, including identifying business use cases, prioritizing initiatives, defining milestones, and coordinating implementation. * Collaborate with AI/ML, data, and engineering teams to understand technical requirements, dependencies, and implementation considerations. * Stay current with emerging technologies, including *Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), Machine Learning, automation, and intelligent applications*. * Ensure project deliverables meet quality, security, compliance, and organizational standards. * Provide regular project reporting and executive-level communication to client leadership. *Required Qualifications* * *12+ years of experience* in technical project/program management, technology delivery, or a related field. * Strong technical understanding of *Java/J2EE and enterprise application development*. * Experience working closely with software engineering and development teams. * Strong understanding of the *Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)* and enterprise application architecture. * Experience with *Agile/Scrum methodologies* and modern software development practices. * Demonstrated experience managing complex, enterprise-level technology projects involving multiple teams and stakeholders. * Strong knowledge of project planning, scheduling, risk management, issue resolution, dependency management, and delivery governance. * Excellent *verbal and written communication skills*. * Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior executives and client stakeholders. * Strong presentation and stakeholder-management skills. * Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced enterprise environment. *AI / Emerging Technology Experience* * Working knowledge of *Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning* concepts and technologies. * Understanding of *Generative AI, LLMs, NLP, RAG, AI agents, or intelligent automation* is highly desirable. * Experience contributing to or managing *AI/ML initiatives or technology transformation programs*. * Ability to develop and manage an *AI technology roadmap*, including: * Identifying and evaluating AI use cases * Prioritizing initiatives based on business value and feasibility * Defining implementation milestones and dependencies * Coordinating technical teams and stakeholders * Tracking progress and communicating roadmap status to leadership * Ability to work with technical teams to translate AI concepts and strategies into actionable projects. *Banking / Financial Services Experience* Prior experience working within the *banking or financial services industry is strongly preferred*. Candidates should ideally have experience with one or more of the following: * Banking applications and platforms * Financial transactions and payment systems * Customer-facing banking applications * Risk management * Regulatory and compliance initiatives * Data and analytics platforms * Digital banking or technology modernization * Enterprise financial systems * Security and governance within regulated environments Experience working in a *highly regulated enterprise environment* is a strong plus. *Preferred Qualifications* * PMP, Scrum Master, SAFe, or other relevant project management certification. * Experience managing large-scale *Java modernization or application transformation initiatives*. * Experience working with cloud technologies such as *AWS, Azure, or GCP*. * Familiarity with APIs, microservices, REST services, DevOps, CI/CD, and containerization. * Experience working with data, analytics, AI/ML, or digital transformation programs. * Experience developing executive presentations, project dashboards, and technology roadmaps. * Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. *Work & Interview Requirements* * *Client-facing role with significant stakeholder interaction.* * *Client interview is required and will be conducted face-to-face/in person.* * *Hybrid work environment* with onsite presence based on client requirements. * Candidates must be comfortable working directly with client stakeholders and presenting project status, risks, roadmaps, and recommendations. * *No visa sponsorship is available for this position.* * Candidates must currently have valid *U.S. work authorization that does not require visa sponsorship*. *Ideal Candidate* The ideal candidate is a *technically strong project manager who can speak the language of software engineers while effectively managing business and executive stakeholders*.
