DevOps Engineer New York City - In office everydayA fast growing technology company is building a new consumer facing platform with a highly experienced engineering team based in New York City. We are seeking a DevOps Engineer to help design, operate, and improve the infrastructure powering our production systems.This role focuses on reliability, automation, observability, and deployment efficiency across cloud and application environments. You will work closely with engineering and security teams to build scalable, secure, and developer friendly systems while reducing operational overhead.This opportunity is ideal for a hands on engineer who enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges, comes from a startup background and wants to be contributing in a fast moving environment.Day to Day Build, operate, and optimize production infrastructure across cloud platforms, Kubernetes, networking, databases, CI/CD, and observability systemsImprove deployment workflows, release automation, rollback strategies, and overall developer productivityMaintain and evolve Kubernetes environments, including cluster operations, workloads, ingress, autoscaling, and resource managementDevelop and manage infrastructure-as-code using Terraform (or similar tools) for cloud resources, networking, and platform servicesEnhance production reliability through monitoring, alerting, service level objectives (SLOs), incident response, and operational playbooksPartner with engineering teams to troubleshoot production issues across infrastructure, networking, and application layersAutomate manual operational processes and streamline infrastructure workflowsDefine scalable patterns for service ownership, configuration, secrets management, and environment managementMaintain and improve CI/CD pipelines, build systems, container workflows, and release toolingSupport security initiatives, including access control, cloud boundaries, secrets management, and secure deployment practicesAnalyze infrastructure performance, reliability, and cost to identify and implement optimizationsContribute to architectural decisions impacting infrastructure, reliability, and developer experienceParticipate in on-call rotations and support incident response when neededWhat We’re Looking For5+ years of experience in DevOps, infrastructure engineering, site reliability engineering, or a related roleStrong experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred)Hands-on experience running Kubernetes in production environmentsExperience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as TerraformSolid understanding of Linux systems, containers, networking, DNS, load balancing, and TLSExperience building or improving CI/CD pipelines and deployment automationFamiliarity with observability tooling metrics, logs, traces, dashboards, and alertingStrong troubleshooting skills across infrastructure, networking, and application layersExperience supporting production systems with a focus on reliability, performance, and simplicityAbility to collaborate effectively in a fast paced engineering environmentComfortable balancing speed, reliability, security, and maintainabilityNice to HaveExperience with observability platforms such as DatadogBackground in high scale consumer or real-time applicationsFamiliarity with Kubernetes tooling such as autoscaling, ingress controllers, service mesh, or policy frameworksExperience managing container images and optimizing build pipelinesKnowledge of CI/CD and GitOps tools like GitHub Actions, Argo CD, or similarExperience with AWS services such as EKS, RDS, ElastiCache, S3, CloudFront, Route 53, and VPC networkingExperience improving developer experience through internal tools and platform abstractionsUnderstanding of database operations, scaling, and performance tuningFamiliarity with incident management, postmortems, and operational readiness practicesExposure to security and compliance frameworks in engineering environmentsStrong understanding of cloud cost optimization
