Animal Scientist

Great opportunity for Animal Scientists interested in working in the U.S. on a TN Visa. Only citizens of Canada and Mexico are eligible for the TN Visa Program. POSITION TITLE: Animal Scientist POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Animal Scientist will be responsible for the overall care of the hogs that the company raises. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Sort culls and pigs, as well as load them and mark the largest pigs on all loads.Ensure all pens have feed and water available, and that the feeding equipment is in working properly, as well as order and administer feed.Move pigs to and from sick care pens as needed, perform timely administration of medications, including injections following animal health care protocols, and keep records of all medication usage.Manage ruptures, hernias and prolapses, and treat minor injuries.Perform euthanasia, castrations, and tail docking when necessary.Communicate ventilation issues and keep accurate records of temperatures, as well as a daily fam checklist.Follow all biosecurity SOPs. QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:An animal science, veterinary or similar degree is required.1 to 3 years of experience with general animal care.Must be able to lift 50 lbs.Agricultural backgrounds are preferred. WORK ENVIRONMENT:Must possess the ability to work in an agricultural environment, indoors, outdoors, office, warehouse, processing, and farm production areas each varying in temperature, and other environment-specific atmospheres.
