Software Architect
We’re looking for a Software Architect to join BrightVine’s team supporting some of the world’s most impactful nonprofit organizations. This is a senior, architecture-focused role for someone who can design complex technical solutions, guide implementation strategy, make sound platform and integration decisions, and also dive into building, troubleshooting, and supporting solutions.
The right person will bring deep technical experience, practical architecture judgment, strong Customer-facing communication skills, and the ability to work across CRM, fundraising, marketing, data, integration, and analytics platforms.
This role will support solutions across enterprise nonprofit technology environments, including Blackbaud CRM, Salesforce NPSP or Nonprofit Cloud, Virtuous, HubSpot, and other CRM, fundraising, marketing, and data platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Design scalable, secure, maintainable software, CRM, integration, and data solutions for enterprise nonprofit Customers
Customize, extend, and integrate enterprise CRM and fundraising platforms, including Blackbaud CRM, Salesforce, Virtuous, HubSpot, and other enterprise systems
Create technical architecture, solution designs, data flows, integration patterns, specifications, and implementation plans
Write, review, and troubleshoot code, integrations, APIs, SQL, stored procedures, services, scripts, and data processes as needed
Support modern data architecture and integration efforts, including ELT pipelines, orchestration, analytics-ready data models, data quality frameworks, managed connectors, API-first patterns, and reverse ETL patterns
Guide developers, consultants, and project teams on technical approach, design decisions, standards, risks, and implementation details
Contribute to BrightVine product architecture, reusable frameworks, internal standards, technical best practices, and development patterns
Use AI-enabled tools such as Anthropic Claude, ChatGPT, or similar platforms where appropriate for development, analysis, documentation, automation, and solution design
Translate complex technical concepts into clear recommendations for business stakeholders, project teams, and Customers
Balance technical quality, project scope, timelines, budget, Customer needs, and long-term maintainability
Required Qualifications
7+ years of experience in solution architecture, systems integration, software development, data engineering, CRM implementation, or related technical consulting roles
Demonstrated experience designing and building enterprise software, CRM, fundraising, marketing, data, or integration solutions
Strong hands-on development experience with the ability to build, troubleshoot, and support software, integrations, APIs, data processes, and technical solutions
Proficiency in SQL, C#/.NET Core, Microsoft SQL Server, stored procedures, CLR routines, data modeling, APIs, and integration development
Experience with Java, Angular, XML, web services, and modern integration patterns
Experience with Blackbaud CRM, Salesforce, Virtuous, HubSpot, or other enterprise CRM solutions
Experience with Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, Power BI, dbt, or similar modern data and analytics platforms
Experience with modern data engineering practices, including medallion architecture, ELT pipelines, DAG design, orchestration, testing frameworks, documentation, CI/CD, analytics-ready modeling, and data quality frameworks
Experience migrating legacy integrations to managed connector, API-first, or reverse ETL patterns
Working knowledge of GDPR technical compliance requirements related to data pipelines, access controls, retention, consent, auditability, and data movement
Experience with AI tools such as Anthropic Claude, ChatGPT, or similar platforms for software development, technical analysis, process automation, or solution design
Strong communication, problem-solving, documentation, and decision-making skills
Ability to collaborate across business, technology, product, engineering, consulting, and delivery teams in a remote, fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with nonprofit organizations, fundraising operations, advancement teams, or nonprofit CRM ecosystems
Experience with Blackbaud CRM customizations, batch processing, Infinity SDK, business processes, global changes, or platform-specific integration patterns
Experience with Salesforce NPSP, Nonprofit Cloud, Data Cloud, or fundraising CRM data models
Experience leading technical discovery, architecture workshops, design reviews, or customer-facing technical strategy sessions
