This role requires someone who not only understands merchandising and retail strategy, but also has hands-on experience navigating the sourcing and manufacturing process—ensuring products are developed efficiently, cost-effectively, and to spec.This is a full-time on-site role for a Product Merchandiser based in New York, NY. The Product Merchandiser will be responsible for managing and optimizing product assortments, collaborating with sales and retailers, analyzing market trends, and improving product visibility. The role involves ensuring that product placement aligns with market demands and consumer behavior to maximize sales and customer satisfaction. Additional responsibilities include working on strategic product launches and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.What You'll DoLead merchandising strategy and assortment planning across Home Goods categoriesDevelop product lines tailored to retail partners, aligning with their brand positioning and customer baseOwn the product lifecycle from concept through production and retail launchWork closely with sourcing and manufacturing partners to ensure product feasibility, quality, and margin targetsCollaborate cross-functionally with product development, operations, and sales teamsBuild and maintain strong relationships with key retail accountsTranslate market trends and consumer insights into actionable product opportunitiesPresent line plans, product concepts, and merchandising strategies to internal and external stakeholdersAnalyze performance data to refine assortments, pricing, and positioningWhat You Bring4+ years of experience in product merchandising within Home Goods (kitchenware, home décor, storage, etc.)Proven experience working directly with retailers and developing customized product linesHands-on experience with sourcing, manufacturing, and production processes (vendor communication, costing, timelines, QA, etc.)A well-rounded portfolio demonstrating product development, merchandising strategy, and retail executionStrong commercial instincts with an eye for design and product-market fitDeep understanding of retail dynamics, pricing, and assortment strategyAbility to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environmentStrong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market trends and sales dataExcellent communication and collaboration skills to engage with cross-functional teams and stakeholdersExperience in product management, including planning, development, or selectionKnowledge of sales strategies, with the ability to drive product performanceBachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related fieldPrevious experience in retail, merchandising, or a similar field is preferredProficiency in relevant tools and software for data analysis and inventory managementExcellent communication and presentation skillsWhat Sets You ApartYou understand how to take a product from idea → shelfYou can balance design, cost, and manufacturabilityYou think like both a merchant and an operatorYou know what it takes to make products succeed at retailTo apply:Please submit your resume and portfolio demonstrating your product development history.And/OR send us your resume and portfolio to --- email: alicia@phantomchef.com
