About the Position: Lewis & Clark is seeking a seasoned development professional who will work on a team of gift officers and will report to the assistant vice president for advancement. The senior advancement officer will play an important role in the College’s comprehensive campaign. This individual works to identify, qualify, cultivate and solicit major and planned gifts from alumni, parents and friends of the College; manages a list of tracked major gift prospects including stewardship plans; engages in a high level of prospect contact; and thinks creatively and strategically to advance the College’s efforts through prospect engagement opportunities. This person is based on campus, but will be responsible for traveling to the northeast region of the country and southern California region as part of their territory. Essential Functions: Relationship Management Manage a portfolio of up to 200 major gift prospects who have the capacity to make a commitment of $50,000 and more (over 5 years) by developing and implementing comprehensive cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans. Conduct monthly personal visits in and out of state to build relationships with prospective donors who are alumni, parents, and friends of the College. Solicit prospective donors for outright and deferred commitments of $50,000 or more for projects that align with Lewis & Clark’s strategic plan goals. Solicit prospective donors, as appropriate, for the Annual Fund, the Parents Fund, athletic funds, and other special opportunities. Campus Collaboration Work both independently and in concert with the president, deans, faculty, faculty emeriti, board members, and volunteers. Coordinate with campus partners such as Gift Planning, Annual Giving, Corporate and Foundation Relations, Donor Relations, and Prospect Development to develop and implement strategic plans to strengthen, deepen, and expand relationships with donors and potential donors. Attend appropriate College events, programs, and meetings. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience 3 years of experience with donor fundraising 3 years personal solicitation experience 2 years prospect management experience 1 year donor stewardship experience Ability to travel on a monthly basis to visit donors in person, often requiring 1-3 nights away from Portland Ability to honor and work with all identities and individuals, particularly those who are underrepresented in the country and/or at Lewis & Clark College Preferred Requirements: Master's degree 5 years of relevant work experience Work Schedule: Full-time (1.0 FTE) 37.5 hours per week (Occasional evening and weekend event attendance) Benefits Eligible: Yes Pay Rate Salary $80,000 - 85,000 annually (Commensurate with experience) Exempt: Yes Directions for Cover Letter Please upload your cover letter on the My Experience screen in the resume section.
