The Fire Alarm Technician will install, program, test, inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain fire alarm systems and related life safety equipment in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. Responsibilities include reading and interpreting electrical and fire alarm drawings, running and terminating wiring, mounting and connecting devices, and verifying system functionality in accordance with applicable codes and manufacturer requirements. The role involves performing routine inspections, documenting findings, completing service reports, and communicating clearly with project managers, team members, and customers. The technician will also help ensure all work areas are safe, comply with relevant standards, and are completed on schedule and within quality expectations.Qualifications Experience with installation, testing, inspection, and maintenance of fire alarm and life safety systems, including familiarity with control panels, notification appliances, and detection devices.Working knowledge of electrical principles, low-voltage systems, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.Understanding of applicable codes and standards (e.g., NFPA, NEC, local building and fire codes) and a commitment to safety and compliance.Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and diagnostic skills, with the ability to work methodically and accurately under time constraints.Effective communication and customer service skills, with the ability to collaborate with team members and interact professionally with clients on job sites.Ability to perform physical tasks associated with the role, including lifting equipment, using ladders, and working in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments.Prior experience as a fire alarm technician, low-voltage technician, or related electrical role preferred; NICET or equivalent fire alarm certification is a plus.High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical or trade school training in electrical or low-voltage systems is beneficial.Valid driver’s license with a reliable means of transportation and an acceptable driving record.
