With a presence in more than 200 communities nationwide, the USL unites every level of the game - from youth development to Division One professional competition - across both men's and women's pathways.Rooted in community and driven by a bold vision, the USL is turning local passion into nationwide momentum by giving every fan a home, every player a pathway, and every community a place in American soccer's exciting next chapter.United for Soccer.Program PurposeUnder the direction and guidance of USL Executives and Leaders (mentors), the USL Work Experience Program (UWEP) provides students with the unique opportunity to gain practical sport management experience in a professional sports league setting. By working on various strategic projects and initiatives, UWEP participants will gain hands on experience with league staff as well as member teams.Participants are tasked with and responsible for partnering within a specialized department but will interact with all league departments across the organization including business development, digital, club services, analytics, and more; with the ultimate goal of providing students with well-rounded practical work experience in sports.Position PurposeUnder the direction of the USL Youth team, the USL Youth Operations UWEP supports the USL Youth department by assisting with multiple functional areas of USL Youth operations. The Participant will assume an integral role in the administration and analysis of league minimum standards, rules, and regulations.Duties and ResponsibilitiesSpecific duties include, but are not limited to:Coordinate USL Youth season items with a focus on data retrieval and input.Coordinate player and coach registrations; approve and process all player documents.Process match and referee reports with respect to statistics, discipline, and minimum standards.Maintain player discipline and minimum standards database.Assist in creation and dispersal of marketing material.Assist social media staff with collecting information and maintaining the content calendar.Perform market research and compile reports when necessary.Assist with planning and execution of USL Youth showcase and events.Communicate with current and potential USL Youth customers and collect data on consumer experiences.Record information in Game Officials US Soccer database and create reports as needed.Determine operational needs and procedures and communicate them to the relevant parties.Perform other tasks as directed by the USL Youth team.Assist other departments and operational areas as requested to provide a well-rounded overview of working in sports.QualificationsParticipants must be working towards a bachelor's or master's degree in a related field and/or training and must certify that they are able to receive college course credit from an accredited college or university for their participation.Solid computer skills and proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook are a must.Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.Positive attitude and strong work ethic are a must.
