As an Embedded Systems Engineering Leader, you will guide a skilled team to design, implement, test, and document firmware and software for high voltage power supplies. You will collaborate with global engineering and cross-functional teams to align on product and technology goals. You will solve complex firmware challenges across RTOS and bare‑metal environments, shaping the future of Spellman’s HVPS solutions. ResponsibilitiesProvide technical direction and workload management for all Embedded Systems developmentPlan firmware/software development projects and manage release processesOversee firmware/software design for high voltage power supplies across multiple platforms and languagesPrepare technical documentation including diagrams, manuals, and release notesReview customer requirements and ensure alignment with engineering standardsLead product design reviews and ensure timely, budget-conscious project executionFoster a high-performance engineering culture and mentor the teamCollaborate with sales, marketing, operations, and quality teams on strategic projectsDrive lean/risk-based project execution and continuous improvementEnsure compliance with security regulations and company standards
Key requirementsBachelor in Electrical Engineering; 15+ years in product/technology development in power electronics15+ years hands-on experience; high voltage X-ray power conversion experience highly desired7+ years leading an engineering team in a global company; manufacturing exposure preferredStrong knowledge of power electronics, analog design, magnetic design for HV/LV applicationsProven leadership with coaching, collaboration, and strategic orientationExcellent project management and design/analysis tool proficiencyWillingness to travel ~10% and on-site work in Hauppauge, NYleadership and coachingcross-functional collaborationcustomer-focused approachC, Verilog, VHDL, Assembly, C#, VB6, Java, WPFfirmware development with RTOS and bare-metalDSPs, MCUs, FPGAs, CPLDs, SOMs
