We build innovative tools that adapt to each investor's unique financial situation.Our teams combine strong product thinking, close cross-functional collaboration, and thoughtful application of AI to solve complex problems and deliver high-impact solutions.Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid - 4 days in office)The RoleAs part of a cross-functional squad, you'll collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers in building next-generation applications and tools used both within Morningstar and by external clients.In this role, you'll contribute across the full product lifecycle - from shaping user experiences and system architecture to building scalable services and delivering high-quality, production-ready features. You'll primarily work with modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks such as Vue3, Nuxt, and NestJS, while contributing to backend systems built with C#/.NET and SQL.This is a hands-on, end-to-end engineering role that includes:Building intuitive, performant user interfacesDesigning and developing APIs and servicesCreating data visualizations for financial insightsWriting automated tests and improving system reliabilityContributing to infrastructure, monitoring, and operational excellenceYou'll also participate in a shared on-call rotation (approximately 2 weeks every 3 months).AI-Driven EngineeringWe are actively integrating AI across the software development lifecycle to improve speed, quality, and scalability.
