Construction Estimator
Job Title: Construction EstimatorJob Location: Duluth, GAType: Full - TimePosition Overview:We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Estimator to lead the estimating process for complex commercial construction projects. The Senior Estimator will analyze project plans and specifications, prepare detailed cost estimates, and collaborate with project teams and subcontractors to develop competitive bids. This role requires strong analytical skills, excellent communication, and a deep understanding of construction costs and market conditions.Key Responsibilities:Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects including light industrial, big box retail, medical, and office buildings.Analyze architectural, structural, and MEP drawings, specifications, and contracts.Solicit and review subcontractor and supplier bids, negotiate pricing, and build detailed cost breakdowns.Collaborate closely with project managers, superintendents, and design teams during preconstruction to ensure accurate and competitive estimates.Develop and maintain a database of unit costs, historical data, and market trends.Identify value engineering opportunities and recommend cost-saving measures. Prepare and present bid proposals and reports to senior management.Assist with risk assessment and review contract terms related to project costs.Mentor junior estimators and support continuous improvement in estimating processes.Qualifications:Minimum 7 years of commercial construction estimating experience, preferably with a general contractor.Proficient in estimating software (e.g., On-Screen Takeoff, iSqFt, Sage Estimating, Bluebeam, or similar).Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and costs.Ability to read and interpret construction documents and specifications.Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.Proven track record of preparing accurate and competitive estimates.Familiarity with budgeting, scheduling, and project management principles.Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.Physical Requirements:Ability to visit job sites as needed to assist with takeoffs or understand project conditions.Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
