This position emphasizes collaboration, technical expertise, and a strong ability to mentor and drive improvement within the Avionics testing environment.What You'll Get To DoCommunication and Collaboration:Work closely with multidisciplinary teams (e.g., EGSE, Design Engineering, Manufacturing)Actively participate in design reviews, peer evaluations, and program milestone reviews (MRR, PDR, CDR, TRR)Provide cross-program coordination and escalate key updates or issues to upper managementTest Engineering Expertise:Collaborate with the EGSE Lead to develop Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) requirementsGenerate test plans and procedures to ensure compliance with specificationsPerform or oversee testing and troubleshooting of both flight and non-flight Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs) or electronic modulesAnalyze test results, trends, and drive resolution of anomalies or failuresLeadership and Mentorship:Participate in Gilbert, AZ-based Test Engineers, to understand assigned testing priorities and providing problem-solving expertiseMentor team members in diagnostic and troubleshooting skillsContinuous Improvement Efforts & Initiatives:Identify areas for process improvements in test and troubleshooting activities, yield, and test fidelityParticipate in safety improvement initiatives and preventative/corrective action implementationsProgram & Business Support:Support cost estimation, proposal development, and functional initiativesActively monitor the status and performance of avionics tests while contributing to mid-term and year-end evaluationsKey Traits Of The Ideal CandidateA motivated, self-driven problem-solver with excellent communication skillsComfortable working in a dynamic environment and collaborating with various teams/disciplinesCapable of balancing technical responsibilities with leadership and administrative tasksDedicated to mentoring team members while driving improvements in test processesStrong passion for avionics testing and contributing to the success of cutting-edge space systemsThis requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.Basic QualificationsPrincipal Electrical Test Engineer (T03): 5 years of experience with Bachelors in STEM; 3 years with Masters; 1 year with PhDSenior Principal Electrical Test Engineer (T04): 8 years of experience with Bachelors in STEM; 6 years with Masters; 4 years with PhDAbility to obtain and maintain DoD Secret ClearanceExperience in hardware design, testing, and troubleshootingAbility to read and interpret electrical schematics and circuitryStrong analytical/diagnostic skills for solving technical challengesAbility to work various shifts, inclusive of after hours and weekendsPreferred QualificationsActive Secret ClearanceDemonstrated success in leading small teams of engineersExpertise in power regulation and analog signal processingExpertise in hardware-software integration for automated test systems using tools like NI LabVIEW/TestStandExpertise in high-speed serial interfaces (LVDS, SPACEWIRE, TCPIP, 1553)Strong skills with tools like Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, and presentationsFamiliarity with troubleshooting electronic systems with lab equipmentProven ability to implement continuous improvement initiatives in testing practicesPrimary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
