This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a high-impact environment, values continuous improvement, and is passionate about vehicle diagnostics and team development.As a Shop Manager, you'll be responsible for supervising maintenance activities for our fleet of busses. You'll work closely with regional leadership to ensure compliance, efficiency, and performance goals are metall while playing a key part in developing talent and driving operational excellence.Annual Salary: $80,000 - $85,000 annually + $.25/hr ASE bonusResponsibilities:Lead and schedule fleet maintenance operations; oversee diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenanceHire, train, develop, and evaluate technician staff; manage performance, discipline, and team dynamicsEnsure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulationsMonitor and manage maintenance budgets, vendor invoices, and repair ordersPartner with dispatch and operations teams to ensure vehicle availability and service coordinationOrder parts, fuel, and subcontract repair work as neededIdentify and implement cost-saving and efficiency-enhancing initiativesPerform hands-on mechanical work as neededRequirements:5+ years of mechanical supervisory experience (fleet or diesel preferred)Strong diagnostic skills, especially in alternative fuel systems (propane a plus)ASE certifications highly preferredSolid communication, leadership, and problem-solving skillsMust hold a valid CDL with required endorsementsComfortable working in physically demanding shop environments (lifting up to 50 lbs, working under vehicles, etc.)Proficiency in basic computer systems for maintenance trackingWhy Join First Student?Competitive Benefits Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k) retirement plan, paid holidays and vacation, and support for physical and mental well-being.Career Growth Opportunities We believe in promoting from within.
