Fire Alarm Technician - Installation, Troubleshooting & Programming

SureFire Systems is hiring a full-time Fire Alarm Technician / Project Technician. We work with end users, Electrical Contractors, and General Contractors to perform new fire alarm system installations, tenant improvements, building upgrades, test and inspect work, and service in commercial settings. This position is intended for a technician who is beyond entry-level installation. We are looking for someone who can not only install fire alarm systems, but also assist with project troubleshooting, programming, final testing, commissioning, and turnover. The right candidate should be comfortable working in the field, reading plans, understanding fire alarm circuits, identifying wiring or device issues, communicating with office staff and customers, and helping bring projects to completion. Ideal applicants should have: 5+ years of experience in fire alarm installation, service, or project work. A strong work ethic and a great attitude. An eye for detail and pride in your work. The ability to learn quickly and take direction when needed. A technical mind, with the ability to process new information and apply it in the field. The experience and aptitude to manage portions of an installation and assist in final testing of a fire alarm system. Experience troubleshooting new construction projects, including open circuits, ground faults, NAC issues, SLC issues, communication issues, panel troubles, and device problems. Experience assisting with fire alarm programming, testing, commissioning, and inspection preparation. The ability to read and understand fire alarm drawings, riser diagrams, device layouts, and basic wiring details. NICET II, CSA FA2, or greater certifications preferred. Preferred applicants have: Previous experience with multiple fire alarm panel types, including AUTOCALL, Simplex, EST, Notifier, Fike, Gamewell/FCI, Silent Knight, and Fire-Lite. Previous experience in fire alarm service-related areas, including troubleshooting earth grounds, open circuits, panel troubles, wiring faults, device replacement, and device repair. Experience with final testing, pre-testing, AHJ inspections, customer walkthroughs, and project punch lists. Experience programming or assisting with programming fire alarm panels, NAC panels, annunciators, power supplies, dialers, communicators, and related system components. The ability to work independently when needed while also coordinating with project managers, foremen, office staff, customers, and other trades. Strong communication skills, both internally with office staff and externally with customers. Applicants must be able to: Pass a background check. Have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Climb ladders up to 12 feet, operate lift equipment, and lift/carry up to 50 lbs. Work in commercial construction environments. Commute to job sites throughout the greater Phoenix area.
