Engineering Manager, Infrastructure
Location: Austin, TX - ON SITE ROLE
Salary: $150,000-$170,000/Year + Bonus and Relocation.
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager, Infrastructure to lead a team responsible for our CI/CD ecosystem, build and release pipelines, and supporting cloud and on-premises infrastructure. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, this role is ideal for a hands-on technical leader who thrives at the intersection of software engineering, DevOps, and infrastructure management.
This is a unique opportunity to shape the technology that enables globally distributed development teams to build, test, package, and deliver multiple game titles across desktop, console, and mobile platforms. The successful candidate will balance people leadership with meaningful technical contributions, helping drive automation, reliability, scalability, and operational excellence throughout the development lifecycle.
What You'll Do
Team Leadership & Management
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of infrastructure and DevOps engineers.
Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.
Conduct regular 1:1 meetings, performance reviews, and career development discussions.
Help define staffing plans and recommend organizational growth to support evolving infrastructure needs.
Manage team priorities, workload balancing, and execution against strategic objectives.
Infrastructure & Pipeline Ownership
Oversee the design, development, and operation of a robust CI/CD pipeline supporting multiple game titles.
Drive the technical roadmap for build, release, and infrastructure systems, ensuring reliability, scalability, security, and cost efficiency.
Lead initiatives to reduce build times, improve developer experience, and optimize infrastructure utilization.
Ensure pipeline solutions effectively support globally distributed teams and external partners.
Oversee infrastructure services across both cloud and on-premises environments.
Technical Leadership
Serve as a hands-on contributor through coding, scripting, troubleshooting, architecture design, and technical problem-solving.
Guide the development of automated workflows from source code validation through build creation, artifact storage, and distribution.
Champion engineering best practices for automation, deployment, monitoring, and system reliability.
Partner closely with Engineers, Designers, Artists, IT, and Production teams to align infrastructure solutions with product goals.
Ensure comprehensive architecture documentation, operational procedures, and user-facing documentation are maintained.
Operational Excellence
Monitor and improve key performance indicators including build success rates, build duration, deployment reliability, and infrastructure health.
Lead incident response, postmortem reviews, and initiatives that transition teams from reactive operations to proactive reliability management.
Oversee service lifecycle management, deployment processes, and operational health of engineering-owned infrastructure.
Partner with IT and Security teams to maintain secure access controls and infrastructure governance, including systems such as Perforce.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
3+ years of engineering management experience.
8+ years of software engineering, infrastructure engineering, DevOps, or related experience.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Strong experience leading engineering teams while remaining technically hands-on.
Extensive experience designing, operating, and scaling complex infrastructure environments.
Expertise in automation, scripting, and infrastructure optimization.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience managing incident response programs and driving operational maturity through postmortem and continuous improvement practices.
Deep knowledge of cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS services and architecture.
Experience with infrastructure configuration management and deployment automation.
Hands-on experience with CI/CD platforms such as Jenkins, TeamCity, or similar tools.
Experience administering and supporting Perforce environments.
Strong proficiency with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, PowerShell, or Batch.
Experience architecting and maintaining large-scale distributed systems.
Strong understanding of first-party platform requirements, submission processes, and tooling for Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo platforms.
Previous experience supporting game development studios and Game DevOps environments.
Bonus Points
Experience with Unreal Engine build infrastructure.
Experience with Unreal Horde and/or Gauntlet.
Experience optimizing large-scale game build pipelines and multi-platform release processes.
