Assistant Director of Nursing
Ontario Center, a specialized healthcare and rehabilitation provider in Ontario, NY, is seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Nursing to support clinical leadership and ensure the delivery of high-quality, person-centered care. In this key role, you will work closely with the Director of Nursing and the interdisciplinary team to promote excellence in nursing practice, resident safety, and regulatory compliance within our Healthcare & Medical Services department.
The Assistant Director of Nursing will help oversee day-to-day clinical operations on the nursing units, including supervision and support of nursing staff, coordination of resident care, and monitoring of clinical outcomes. You will participate in developing, implementing, and evaluating individualized care plans, ensuring that nursing services are delivered in accordance with current standards of practice, facility policies, and state and federal regulations. A strong focus on communication with residents, families, and the care team is essential to uphold Ontario Center's commitment to person-centered care.
This position plays a critical role in staff leadership and development. You will assist with hiring, onboarding, and mentoring nurses and nursing assistants, provide coaching and performance feedback, and help organize ongoing education and in-service training to maintain clinical competencies and promote best practices. You will support scheduling and staffing oversight to ensure appropriate coverage, while fostering a respectful, collaborative, and accountable work environment aligned with the Center's values of integrity and high standards of service.
The Assistant Director of Nursing will actively participate in quality improvement and compliance initiatives, including auditing clinical documentation, monitoring infection prevention and control practices, reviewing incident and accident reports, and contributing to corrective action plans. You will help prepare for and respond to surveys and inspections, ensuring adherence to all applicable healthcare regulations and internal policies. Collaboration with physicians, therapists, social workers, and other disciplines is essential to optimize resident outcomes and ensure smooth transitions of care.
