Salary: $80,000 - $100,000About The RoleThe Assistant Controller oversees the audit and compliance functions for a large-scale, highly regulated environment that handles a high volume of daily consumer transactions. You will be responsible for ensuring that all activities align with specialized industry regulations, federal compliance standards, and strict internal controls. It is a leadership role that requires a steady hand to manage daily auditing operations while maintaining a high level of accuracy in financial reporting.The team is looking for a manager who carries themselves with a grounded, reliable energy and can set a professional tone for the department. You will work closely with the Controller and other leadership teams to provide clear operational information and help keep the organization’s financial health in check.Job DutiesSupervise and coordinate the daily operations of the audit and compliance personnel.Manage the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and specialized financial compliance programs.Review and verify the accuracy of journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities.Ensure all operational and non-operational transactions are audited for completeness.Develop and implement clear policies and procedures for the compliance program.Provide training to staff on specific audit procedures and regulatory requirements.Coordinate with internal and external auditors by providing necessary documentation and schedules.Review specialized transaction reports and compliance filings for accuracy and completeness.Identify any weaknesses in current controls and recommend practical ways to fix them.Assist with budget preparation, KPI tracking, and the review of monthly financial statements.Lead and mentor a team, handling everything from hiring and training to performance appraisals.RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.At least 4 years of accounting experience, including 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.Strong knowledge of audit processes, specialized industry regulations, and federal AML standards.The ability to pass a high-level background check and obtain a specialized operational license.High proficiency in Microsoft Excel.A professional, grounded energy, and the ability to build effective working relationships across the company.Excellent organizational skills and a proactive approach to solving problems.Timing is everything.
